Does anyone know how many expansion bays and how many expansion PCI slots these things have? I would like to be able to throw in another hard drive (or two?) and perhaps like 4 PCI cards, but it wouldn't be a very "good deal" if it only has 3 PCI and no expansion bays.

Yes ntfs and fat32 are compatable for networking.

I hated it when xp was to come out everyone thought they wern't obviously spreading false rumors and I knew they were because I had it before it came out.

IMHO, not that great of a deal for us tech junkies. Pretty low end...

The American express offer also has printed all over the postcard that you can not combine it with other offers - like free shipping.

my school uses these same machines...they are left running 24/7 365 days a year, except for minor upgrades in the summer. not the best computer you can buy, but certainly reliable and well worth this price.

My wife's system had a meltdown last week, so I coud use a package system for a really cheap price.

I picked up one of these boxes for 580 delivered about two weeks ago when the 20 % coupon and the 7% email coupon came out. Minus the $100 rebate at $480 and its working great. Its acting as my web/file server just fine. This box was the 1.7 and the desktop case to fit my old stereo rack. A few more items were upgraded. This box is extremely quiet.

I ordered a second one three days ago for 490 minus 100 rebate. This box is the 1.6 cpu and the Small Minitower Case .
Both boxes shipped in less than 8 hours from the order, amazing. You can also register for order watch at dell to be emailed when it ships.
Dell accepted the 20% twice with the same account and CC I used for both. I did not call or email, just placed the order.

I ghosted the HD right away before even booting the machine as a backup.

This code is going to bite all of you if DELL notices that all coupons are the same.

The postcard was sent out about a month ago. When you filled out an AMERICAN EXPRESS BUSINESS survey it would generate a 20% off code for you. Someone just generated a code and is sharing it.

The small print states that this could not be combined with free shipping offers, rebates, or other price reductions. Since you could not combine it with anything, the deals were really not that great. DELL ALWAYS has some kind of special or something that lets you get a PC for $400/500... ALWAYS - they have been doing this all spring... free shipping... 20% off... free dvd's and cdrw's... 7% off...
free memory... memory upgrade... they are the JC PENNYS of the computer world!

Does this system come with any software? Also what is the differance between NTs and Fat 32? On the memory do you want 64MB to get the rebate or are you ok with 128MB?
