6800gt is not faster the x800xt. Look more closely at the relevant
benchmarks, and you'll see that with aa/af enabled x800 is usually faster by 30-50%.
This inlcudes 12x10 resolutions. The only exceptions are open-gl games where 6800 has
a lead. It's quite disturbing that 6800 takes a 50% performance hit with quality options
enabled, especially the AF feature, while x800 takes a much smaller performance hit,
so that's why the base measurements without aa/af are misleading.

I give up. I'm throwing in the towel. Gateway called me this morning to tell me the card is now backordered. I cancelled my order and ordered the 6800gt from gameve. It ships today and will be here in three. I'm tired of being d!cked around by Gateway. Good luck to the rest of you.

I guess it's a rather good thing I ordered that X800 Pro VIVO. Should be 16 pipes out the box, otherwise nothing a quick flash won't take care of.

Guess I'll sit out the X800 XT PE till I get it if even.

Well, the GT is looking more and more stomach tingling good now. I mean, my main monitor is a 17" LCD with 12x10 native resolution. The GT is cooler than the XT PE in my low airflow case (cool, but still). The only problem is that Gateway has already deducted the $434.95 from the checking account they drew the e-chk from. If that money can be zapped back instantly, then I will go get a GT right now!!! I think I might jump ship.

Well pal if you are really thinking about it, ZipZoomFly expects more eVGA 6800GTs with Far Cry on 7/30 for $399.99, shipped. NewEgg is receiving same said card with Far Cry this Friday for $409.99. GameVE has the both, XFX as well as PNY branded 6800GTs in stock, right now, for $404.00, either card, plus $4.99 flat shipping rate.

Well, I can't cancel my order. It is too far along, and is past the cancellable stage. I'd have to refuse the shipment, which there is no way in hell I'd do that! So ... although I was calling to cancel, I can't. Haha. I have the opposite problem some guys have - the ones that had the order cancelled without permission.

Safeway, that's insane (the fact that they won't let you cancel)!! If I were you (and you want to really cancel), I would be raising hell up the authority ladder at Gateway. For them to not allow you to cancel an order that STILL isn't even in stock is absurd. Judging by your previous posts, I doubt you will have trouble mustering the courage to go on the verbal warpath.

I have only purchased one thing from Gateway's store (VisionTek GeForce 3 many moons ago), but would never buy another thing from them after all that I have read in these threads. This has nothing to do with them not having the card in stock, but rather everything to do with a lack of professionalism to the extreme!

PS: What's the deal with "printing labels"?? That takes a few days? What's next, "walking the package to the dock"? That should be good for another week...

Well, I want my fvcking card, and you are right, I have the courage to yell at them relentlessly. I liked calling ATI the most though. They are just as incompetent and ignorant and corrupt.
