While I am also aggravated by the fact that the X800 XTs have not shipped, I'm curious, does anyone have a 6800 Ultra? I hear a lot of talk about how the 6800 GTs are available, but then again so are the X800 Pros. Neither company has their ultra high end cards available so lay off ATi.

I suppose that's true. After deciding I would venture to the Dark Side and buy Ati, I stopped looking for deals on the nvid offerings. But after reading that I shouldn't expect my x800 anytime soon, I started checking 6800 Ultras. Can't find them in stock at near retail either.

well, evga will ship their 1st batch of 6800 Ultra on 8-2-04. I hope that's the time that ati will mail out their xt to GW as well.

I bought my eVGA 6800 GT and I love it. I am planning on taking advantage of the Step-Up program that eVGA offers - I'll spend the extra $100 to get higher stock clocks, and higher O/C. Sadly, I think I will need to buy a new PSU if I do that...

I have had my eVGA 6800 Ultra for about 2 weeks.

So...has anyone received their card yet?

I ordered on 6/16.
Original ETA was 7/16.
I recived a call on 7/16 saying there was a delay.
New ETA is 8/9.

Just wondering if everyones order is getting held up, or they are just shipping limited quantities.

I also received a phone call stating an August 9th ship date. Strange that we are receiving the same information this time as opposed to the various ship dates we all had been receiving before.

Same, emailed about my order status and got the August 9th date.

I emailed and they're still telling me August 2. Heh. I'm no fool! (But foolish hope lingers. I miss Babs, too.)

Heh, keep holding your breath people. It's past 7 weeks and counting...

This is for Gateway...

This one's for ATI... :disgust:

Well here's some crappy news to share... I was just doing my usual check of X800XT PE sites and saw CompUSA is now showing a date of September 1st for shipping! It had been August 15th (I believe) for quite some time (among all the other missed dates). This is pathetic... Contrary to what ATI has been saying, it's hard to believe that there isn't some sort of problem.

From what I saw, compusa had it for 8-15 delivery, but that batch had been sold out. So, the new 9-1 date is the newer batch...I think...

I wouldn't be worried about performance with the X800XT. I have a feeling ATI will have a similar advantage in HalfLife2. The question is, who will have their cards available (in stock) first? Will we see 6800 Ultra's before X800XT's? One thing is for sure, the 6800GT is a lot better value than a X800Pro at the same price.

Hate to get into a big, ATI/NVIDIA bit here, when all we want is to get our cards. But best metric for who performs better that I can tell is OGL = NVIDIA DX = ATI. The Hardocp game guide shows the xt giving up about 4fps avg. for my system config at 16x12. I can live with that, and do better in the other 95% of games to be released

Well my order status now shows shipping estimate as "Not Available" while the CS guy quoted me at 8/9. Doesn't bode well, wonder how long I'll wait. Might just wait for another generation of video cards..

Well CompUSA is now showing September 20th. I know Firerock mentioned that this could just be due to selling out initial orders, but I really doubt it. The 101 date changes prior to this did not mean that (nobody got their cards), not to mention how many orders they must have after nearly two months of waiting (meaning they might as well put the expected date at 2005 if they are indicating what date someone will get their card if ordered now). However, I hope I'm wrong.

well, my expected ship date at gw site is still 8-12. Hopefully, some of us will get the card earlier than later.

heh,

I just checked, and good ole GW has me for 7/30 still. Guess that means when I get home from work, it'll be waiting for me. Yay....

I sent em an e-mail a couple days ago, to see about an updated arrival date. They haven't even bothered to respond Must have pushed back the arrival date on my response too

Heh, what else did you expect from them? Gateway has an awful rating on http://www.resellerratings.com and they have it because they deserve it.

Damn Robor...

It's really not GW's fault. Look at CDW and the rest of the online retailers that said they would also have the cards in SOON to Tomorrow.

I blame ATI. They are the ones telling GW/CDW etc...etc that the cards will be in stock. So, don't take it out out on the reseller when this is all ati's fault. If you really want to get them back tell ATI how you feel... I just bought a Nvidia 6800GT. Have not even installed it yet. I am selling my ATI x800Pro to anyone here that wants it.... Since I don't want to own any more ATI products I think the company sucks.

As unhappy with GW as I am, I'm inclined to agree... GW set the ship dates based on ATI info. If you look around, BB, Compusa, CDW, etc are all playing the same game. Now, I do think GW should be able to handle this much better. My ship date never changed from 7/30, even when folks who had ordered a month before were being told 8/xx

BTW I like that Google Result. Who would have expected anything else, however.

I still think ATI should make a public announcement and apology for the delay. I'd like to think they'd throw us a bone, re-instate the HL2 Voucher or something, but even admitting the problem would suffice.

I agree that the core problem is with ATI not supplying enough units to meet demand (if at all). It almost seems like after an initial release of limited quantities, the shipments have completely ceased, I haven't heard anyone at all getting an x800xt lately. But Gateway could also be blamed for not koeping a very accurate, consistent or informative ordering and customer service, as they do not update everyone regarding delayes in a timely fashion, and their CSRs keep giving false and/or misleading information. Based on the above, my advise to all of you is to stop playing this ridiculous waiting game, because it could take two or more months, at least, while you can go out and buy alternative and highly competitive products right now.

Gateway has always had part of the blame on itself because it originally listed the card as in stock when in fact it was never, ever in stock. I originally ordered from them based on them not only listing the card as in stock at the site, but their customer service representitive told me by phone, when I called, that IT WAS IN STOCK before I made my order (order was made June 3rd).

Only one organization is to blame for that, and it is Gateway.

Period.
