ATI Sucks...

This is an ATI problem and they still won't admit it!!! Time to move on and buy a 6800GT!

If you have to wait till september to get this I'd say it might as well be dicontinued.

This just isn't a DEAD deal, But it was never alive to begin with. ATI will never get another dollar from me. Since they can't even be HONEST about thier own products. Tho when you go to ATI's website they show you a Pic of all the x800 cards and still say CLICK here if you want to buy one NOW! Yeah, whatever the only way your gonna get an ATI x800 is on Ebay and paying 100.00 - 200 over retail. No thanks, ATI can suck eggs.

Fine, I realize it's only frustration that makes me believe this, but I'm gonna throw my lot in on the Dell X800XT PE. It's more money, but in the past, Dell has been better to me than GW. I guess I'll see if the problem really has been GW, or if ATI is lying to everyone. (As dell is saying 5-7 days)

ATI VCall Conference - PCI-E, X800 Delay, Doom 3
Today, ATI had a Schwab Soundview Semiconductor Conference. In the conference call, ATI reps talk about many aspects of the company as a whole. Including, profits and revenue, stocks, PCI Express, DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 3.0, OpenGL, X800, Doom 3, Windows Longhorn, and much more.

Specifically of general interest, ATI mentions about the delay of the X800 XT Platinum Edition.

To sum up, they state that demand has been very high and supply low. The cards are not being made fast enough for them to get out to retailers. Also, they mention that OEM providers ordered many X800s, so they were supplied first. Now retailers are being focused on.

Furthermore, Doom 3 was discussed and the state of their drivers. Specifcally, the much talked about Humus Tweak for Doom 3 was even mentioned.

Overall, the conference call was very interesting.

I ordered from Dell as well. It is still a lot cheaper than MSRP or Ebay. BTW, I am not counting on Deall sending it out anytime soon. Just the past June, I order x800 from Dell and it listed ship in 3-5 days. It delayed my order until September and I canceled it right away. I'm just going to try anything to land myself a x800xtpe, for a reasonable price.

If you read the quote is says that oem providers have been getting their orders filled first, now they are focusing on retailers.

So far this thread has been kept alive so people can talk about the status of their orders, lets keep it to contructive comments and updates.

Well I have it on order from GW since June 26, July I ordered it from PC Connection and now I placed an order with dell too LOL. Maybe by October I will get a card from someone.

I am tempted to jump ship and go to the BFG 6800GT OC Doom 3 edition, it looks great and seems like it would perform well. Anyone read the latest benchmark tests? Does anyone know if that card is any good?

sweet! my order is unavailable so i called in to check on it, and get this! the lady said it was on the way! SIKE! mwhahahahaha. . . no, for real, i asked her to check on my *free* overnight upgrade, and she said that only a note had been written about it and that it hadn't actually changed. crap on you gateway cs! yarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! oh yea, she said you can't actually change anything on the order other than cancel it once it had been made. i was probably on the phone a good 20 minutes as she hunted around for some kinda answer. she seemed to really have no clue about the x800 at all

Ati did not tell GW to put something on sale they didn't have in stock yet. I don't even care if they were promised to have it to them by some certain time, which there is no indication there ever was. So get over it, and hate on GW. The card will be available when its available.

Check out the new Maximum PC. I guess it?s true, faster memory and 16 Pipes = a faster card, who would have guessed? Getting my 6800GT for 300 bucks was a stroke of luck!

I checked my order status today and it has changed from Not Available to 9-12. But since I ordered the same card from Dell and I got my confirmation that showed the card will be delivered on 8-25, I called GW to cancel my order. To my surprise, CSR told me that my order was in the process of being canceled due to backorder. The strange part is that I just received this new delivery date today but their system showed that my order will be canceled within 2 days. This some messed CIS at Gateway!

I'm playing that dangerous game of keeping my pre-order at GW. I would consider Dell to be more reliable, but just in case they don't get it shipped out this month, I don't want to burn all my bridges.

Here's hoping for me, you, and the other Dell orders that we don't have to wait until some time in the vagueness of Winter to get our cards

When Gateway (or anyone else for that matter) says

Estimated shipping date is XXXXXXX

you should read it as

ATI hasn't been able to manufacture the card in volume yet so we really have no idea when it will ship.

If you keep this is mind, this will help some of you who are upset every time the ship date changes. NO ONE is shipping the card right now. If you can't wait, get a 6800.
