I've been watching the price on these speakers (the NSP-1s) drop over the past 2 weeks, and finally decided to jump on them before the supply dried up everywhere.

So, now that I got my order in... ...give J&R Music World / Computer World a call!!!

They have the NSP-1s in stock for $249.99, and they will pricematch other JBL-authorized online retailers. I got them to pricematch Buy.com with minimal hassle. The CSR (John) had to "verify the price" (1.5 minutes) and "clear the pricematch with a manager" (another 1.5 minutes)... that's it! No haggling, no fussing!

They also ship all JBL products for FREE, just like Buy.com is for the NSP-1 set.

BTW, I decided to pick up the PB-10 subwoofer (for $199.99 w/ free shipping) to compliment the NSP-1 setup. A total of ~$430 for all of my speakers and a 150W sub!!!

All that's left is for me to pick up my Denon AVR-1602 from Crutchfield, and I'll be in business with my first home theater setup!!!

Oh, BTW, I've never ordered from J&R before tonight so I can't vouch for their service from personal experience...

I'm about to crap my pants! They shipped my order a couple days ago it seems and it JUST now showed up when I checked my account on buy.com. They are scheduled to arrive today ! W00T I'm so stoked. Thanks gotincon for the deal. My first set of HT speakers scheduled to arrive on 20th Feb. Now off to researching a nice HT receiver. Any ideas??? I've abias towards Denon 1802 or 2802 after following some posts in the HT forum.

I've had my 1802 for about 4 days now and I am VERY pleased. However, its hard to make a good judgment yet as I don't have any real speakers to go with it, I have been using my klipsch satellites from my 4.1 setup. Has all the options I've wanted.

Heres what I did for my home theater after reading all the forums, and I am very happy.

NSP-1 for 230 from Buy.com shipped
PB-12 From J&R for 289 shipped
Denon 1802 from 6th Ave (authorized) for 382 shipped. (They did their best to pricematch etronics, which at the time was lower than it is now. Now etronics is HIGHER than 6th avenue and etronics is NOT and authorized retailer. Very happy I got such a good deal. I talked to Phil Slepian who was wonderful to deal with. While he will prob not match etronics old price (hence you wont get 383) but very likely he will do his best to make a sale with you. I'm going to be the first to write them up on reseller ratings and they will get a very good score.)

Total damage is 900$ flat. Not bad if you ask me, since retail on everything is twice that.

I also get all my cables from circuit city as they carry the RCA brand cables at a cheap price (compared to the god awful expensive monster cable line)

I'll give a good review of the 1802 as soon as I get my real speakers to go with them.

My JBL NSP-1 5-Piece Northridge speakers should be here Wednesday. Has anyone recieved there speakers and can pass the word how they sound and if they like them? I also see the price went up to $279.95 now.

I heard(somewhat) what they sound like at Best Buy. I say somewhat because I had limited control(volume & music type).
Mine should arrive tomorrow.
I can't wait to hook these up. I also recently picked up an AudioSource SW15 sub from ubid(waiting for that to arrive also).
And this weekend I picked up a JVC 36" TV.
The unfortunate part to my happy scenario is that I will not be able to hook up my goodies until mid to late next week. I have some projects going on that I must finish first. I started laying down new flooring in the family room. Also, I want to make a bulit-in entertainment center(built into my crawl space wall).

If anyone has the NSP-1's setup, a comment(s) would be great. Let us know what equipment you may have.

I purchased the speakers at my local Best Buy and used my AMEX Blue card's Best Value Guarantee to pricematch buy.com. I got the check from AMEX today. The downside is paying more tax; the upside is having an easy way to return the speakers if there are any problems.

I was at best buy the other day and overheard some arrogant guy and his wife buying the NSP1's. This guy just kept saying how he has the money for a much more expensive system, but he will settle with the NSP1's. He wanted to put them in his bedroom. I would have told him where to go to get them substantially cheaper, but his arrogance prevented me from opening my mouth.

The speakers do not come with wire - they do come with mounting hardware to mount the satellites on walls.

I am not sure of the correct size - either 16 or 12AWG???


I'm having a problem figuring out what type of wire connections to get. It looks like it will need banana plugs. That's what I plan on getting, at least - just need to get the correct size of the connections before I purchase them.

I installed mine last night, didn't take to long. I used sheetrock anchors to mount the wall mounts, then I used 16 gauge white lamp wire to as speaker wire. This can be had from home depot for 18 cents a foot, a great bargain compared to white speaker wire (which is much more) Its still flexible just like speaker wire and is marked for positive. I didn't use banana plugs because of cost, but you can, or you don't have to, your call. I actually liked not using it, because its harder for the wire to become unattached if something were to happen (could be good or bad). If you want banana connectors, you can use singles or get the kind that are in pairs with the two plugs 3/4 inch apart center to center.

The speakers sound great with my denon 1802, and I can't wait to try the whole system out on a movie, but as of right now, I just don't have time to watch anything. But so far I'm extremely pleased. Only thing I have left to do is put the rubber feet on the center and fronts so they don't wobble.

My placed my speakers just as specified on dolby.com and I also ran my white speaker wire up to the ceiling then along it so it isn't very noticable. I drove white nails into the wall to hand the wire from.

I called BB a few days ago and they told me they wouldnt Price match online or at a local BB store. I bought mine from buycom for $228.97 a few days ago. I just mounted my new speakers on the wall last night. I'll be hooking them up to my reciever and DVD player tonight. I also just bought a new 50" Mitsubishi TV. Itys all coming together It will be complete tonight!!

My JBL's finally came. I'm probably going to wall mount the rear speakers but i'm not sure if i want to wall mount the front ones. but, speaker stands for these speakers are $100

what has everyone else done? For the wall mounts, I'd like to mount terminals on the wall, near the brackets to avoid any long cordes.

And, no, they speakers don't come with speaker wire.
