:light: That just gave me an idea. I have an Antec 300 I want to do some modding on and paint and was going to pick up a cheap case to use in the interim. I think the tech station would be a better idea as I could use it again later for new builds and projects.

I find my X4 955 BE is more than what I need when it comes to cpu power.

My next upgrade is going to be a SSD. Then I will get the next generation DX11 cards when both Nvidia and ATI bring both to market and then allow some time for demand to dwindle so I get a good price on which card I choose. This system will fly with those two improvements and moreso than upgrading to a i5/x55 with a standard hard drive and my current GPU.

I am a firm believer a balanced system is a much better buy than getting the fastest processor but living with slower components in other areas. Instead I will just use that money to make this system fly and later I can add a USB 3.0 card and a SATA 6GB controller card if needed.

My upgrade itch can only be scratched when the new Ati and nVidia cards come out. I already have a Core i7 system. Two GTX 380s in SLI should do nicely.

I am tempted to go i5 but my 775 does my everyday chores just fine so I think I will stick it out until the 32nm i5s are launched. I do hope they decoupled the PCIE clock from the rest of the chip by then, hate to see a nice cpu be stained with such an imperfection.

The upgrade bug chewed my ass right off as well. Nothing like having your wife call you to say "I'm near a Microcenter, do we need anything?" to accidentally get back on the upgrade treadmill.

Well, there was some speculation that the 1156 chips were "better" early on, but I think that debate has since settled down. There are no "hidden fees" with the X58 chipset...

Had to get a case with more than one HD cage for my AVCHD machine, then the 800D will be for machine 3 in sig (still building)

No I meant not about 1156 vs. 1366 in the context of getting a brand new system from the onset. It was a comment of why would anyone 'side-grade' from their current 1366 to 1156...
