Hopefully they'll have some good deals this time around too.

Yep that's when you and I first met, thanks to those infamous Dell/MSN threads ... ah memories.

Also remember stacking this MSN with Mercata, 800.com among other merchants most of whom are now dead ... gee I wonder why?

Only RossMAN would brag about putting businesses into the red by hot-dealing them to death That's a joke by the way, just in case you don't get it.

I got a set of Calphalon for my wife last year. It was about $250, but from that I got the 20% MSN, a $25 Gift Certificate to Cooking.com and a free 5 qt. Calphalon Pot.

I used the MSN Holiday Rewards promo in Dec. 2000 when I bought my Dell i8000 and got a 500.00 rebate check.

Maybe I can top that this year.

This is definitely getting progressively lamer. I remember the deals from 2000, and man were they ever hot, especially from mercata.com. Now all you get is up to $100 in MSN money? Barely worth my using Microsoft's service to make my purchases.

Well, if you are going to be making purchases during that time frame that happen to be at stores that work with the rewards, then this is ok. Something is better than nothing. I wouldn't go out of my way to make big ticket purchases to get the MSN money though.

I'm still sitting here in front of the MV920 I got from Mercata

Yea, it turned out to be a nice monitor.....I had a few that were bad and ended up getting mine for free after they sent one too many to replace the bad one... No wonder Mercata didn't last....

Those were the good o'l days. I still have my nikon coolpix 800 ( which was $400 ) in those days from mercata for free. Its a long story but in the end i got two $75
rebates from Nikon and the camera for free and you wonder why mercata is around no more.

Oh geez... THIS AGAIN!

Bought my Dell Inspiron on that crazy MSN Holiday Deal/Dell thread in 2000. Funny thing is, I'm using that exact Dell notebook while typing this msg right now.

Remember I went all crazy checking that thread every few minutes and doing an insane amount of research.

Boy, that time of year already! The memories come flooding back. I joined this board in Oct 2000 mainly for the MSN Holiday deal. That year it was 800.com and Mercata. I got my toshiba 36" TV, Toshiba DVD player, and about $1000 in stereo equiptment from 800.com. The UPS guy was cursing me that year Between the coupons they had out, plus the 20% back from MSN, the savings were insane! I used every credit card and email account to establish different accounts with them.
Last year I believe, they put a cap of $100 on MSN rebates per account. I ordered through my name and my wife's account and combined with AmEx pricematching I'd guess I saved $300-$400 on a Canon Elph digital camera from PhotoAlley and a Magellan Meridian GPS + map software.
Since they're not giving cach back but MSN dollars to spend, I can't imagine this getting nearly as big. But you guys will find a deal or two I'm sure

let the deals begin!

Yeah.. those year 2000 was the best year for us, dealhunter
I also remember got my DVD player which is 300 for 125 from mercata and also monitor which I sold again.
Then for 2001 I got coolpix 995 for $278 after MSN rebate , Nikon rebate , Ritz Camera PM and Amex BVG
I'm waiting for this time again I though that MSN going to giveaway cash rebate again because I'm hoping to buy Canon Digicam well I guess I have to wait till there is another digicam deal around

Bad is that you can get only $100 of one account, I can at most create 2 accounts, so $200. Not an crazing deal, but better than nothing.

Here it is folks!
"Promotion runs from 11/25/02 - 12/16/02"

Looks like the site is not fully up , as the participating stores are not listed yet- but be sure to check back!

I got $80 back on a $400 iPAQ last year. It takes a while to get the $$ (sometime in Jan or Feb) but if you have the patience, this can be a very hot deal!

Feel free to list the best deals you can find in this thread- I am looking into either the Viewsonic V35 PDA, or the new Dell model. When you go to http://eshop.msn.com/ Dell is listed as "featured", but I'm not sure if that means it is participating in the Holiday Rewards or not. Good luck to all!

edit:
Looks like you don't get cash back as previous years, but rather "MSN Dollars" to spend at participating stores.

From the site:
"We'll send you an email in February 2003 notifying you that your reward is available. There'll be a quick & easy activation process, after which you can immediately spend your MSN Dollars using your MSN Wallet at any participating store(s)."

back in the good ol days. got my 3MP Sony F505V for $500.00 (retail 999.99) this was from 800.com. No wonder they're belly up.

MSN dollars = No rebate. I mean what the hell are you gonna do with MSN dollars? Buy retail products from MSN? no thank you.

Yeah, I remember this. Thanks for doing all that research. Man, I remember you going into chipset features, pros and cons of every single model. And then, which laptops were part of the deal and which were not. And loopholes in their system. Finally ended up with an inspiron 8000. LOL.

This thread has the highest ratio of golden/platinum/diamond/senior members to other members than any I've seen in a while. Just goes to show that us cheapskates have a long memory....mmmmmmm, memories.

I'm still enjoying my 32" Sony Wega from 2000's MSN deal with 800.com. At the time, a $1200 TV for $700. Now that was a good deal. Dang, do I miss the good 'ol days.

Man...I thought of using this deal to get 20% off of my planned purchase of the new Gateway 42" plasma TV (going for $3000). That means a $600 discount but then I found out that MSN has a $100 limit per account Sux!
