this sucks. went to BB by my work, they didnt have any! and not that it wasnt sold out, they never carried them. they didnt have them before sunday, so no rebuy/return. went today (sunday), nothing, display's been the same the whole week. checked store, didnt see a trace. would've asked someone, but you know how that goes. oh well, prolly try the one closer to my house tomorrow morning and hope and pray. but, at least i stuck it out long enough to know about the PM. hope everything goes well tomorrow.

Anxi80,

You have to ask for them. They keep them in the back. Scope out the help and look for the people that would want to hook this kind of deal up themselves and they'll usually go into the backroom and pull one out for you.

Okay so what is the correct procedure?

1) Buy at checkout with 10% off coupon.
2) Pocket both rebates and rebate receipts.
3) walk over to CS and get PM to C-USA.

Is this the correct way?

You definitely need to ask if they have any in the back. When I got in sunday morning, they had none on the shelves, but over a dozen in the back.

hey guys, i was wondering.....this preferred customer 10% off coupon, is it stackable with the 10% found in the numerous magazines? has anyone tried to use both because that would be a killer deal! if both can be used, this deal would be insanely cheap. just wondering if anyone has any input or if anyone has tried using the two coupons together.

IMHO, if you get the drive for anything close to $1 a GB your doing quite well. If you get it for anything close to the $55-$60 range you are doing extremely good. Please don't be greedy & screw it up for other people, asking for the impossible. MOST places won't allow stacking of coupons. 1) get a legitimate coupon from any mag as stated above 2A) Bring a copy of Sundays ad for CompUsa to avoid phone calls & wasted time. 2B) The CompUsa ad clearly states that there is a $10 instant savings off the $139.99=$129.99. This is your Best Buy price match of $20 less than BB price of $149.99. Then 3) At checkout, ask upfront to pricematch( "I would like to" not "can I") to CompUsa's price of $129.99. 4)"I would like to use my Best Buy coupon (10% off PC peripherals from mag=legitimate coupon) My opinion; be happy with that, your getting the drive for about $55-$56 dollars. What more can you ask for?? (wait don't answer that, LOL) Why ask them to stack coupons, most times they won't. 5)You may need to ASK for the item. It is an ad item they are SUPPOSED to have in stock, however YMMV. They may give a rain check, or offer you something else, or they may have a sh*tload in the back! Who knows.

Be careful here. I went to BB for the price match and they were gonna do it till this know it all kid came up and said they are not the same drive cause the BB ad says 8MB cache and the CU ad does not. He gave it to me anyway, but not with the $10 instant from CU.

I tried to use the preferred customer coupon, but they wouldn't let me cause it is not for hard drives. I didn't have the mag one, but I did use the $10 BB gift card one tho.

I still got a good deal for this drive with 8MB cache, but I might try again with the mag ad somewhere else. It's so stupid how inconsistent they are. Can't hurt having 2 drives.

My first stop yesterday was at Incompetent USA so I could check out their hard drives. They were the 2 MB buffer, so I decided to check out Best Buy. The drives were the Special Edition 8 MB cache. I grabbed one and took it up to the service desk. I asked for a price match to Comp USA, and she said she'd have to call them to verify since I didn't have a copy of the ad. She comes back and said that she couldn't get through their phone maze and didn't feel like holding forever. (If you've ever tried to call them, it is an exercise in frustration). Anyway, I got the $129.99 price match.

$129.99-$40.00 MIR-$20.00 MIR=$69.99

I didn't have a preferred customer coupon or a magazine coupon-If those would have worked, it would have been been even sweeter! I'm happy with the price I got.

My friends got there too late yesterday (They close at 6pm?!), but the two drives that were set aside for them were back out this morning so I picked them both up with the 10% coupon and the CompUSA pricematch. The guy at the register gave my brother and I two different prices ($125.99 for me and 139.99 for him), even though we both used a PM to $129.99 & a coupon, so we took them back to customer service and got them for $116.99 each. Only thing is, they never disabled the security tags so I set off the alarm on all of my back-and-forth trips

What is this 110% PM guarantee someone mentioned? I'm happy, but I sure didn't get that.

BTW, ANYONE should be able to get the CompUSA pricematch if you make sure you have both flyers (And shoot any "annoying kids" before hand). This is because Best Buy has the wrong image and therefore both ads have the exact same image. Because only BB mentions the cache size, if they notice that the box is different in the CompUSA ad you can just say that it's probably a manufacturer file-photo for the same drive or something and point out that their ad has the exact same image. They can't argue the point because the CompUSA drive specifies NOTHING. No model number, no cache size, no nothing.

Oh, and this was in Douglassville, GA and they're out so don't bother them anymore
Yesterday, Fayetteville, GA said they never had them to begin with but that Kennesaw, GA did. So call first (like I did).

i personally think that if people get in on these hot deals ONLY TO MAKE MONEY OFF OTHERS, that to me is wrong. i mean alot of those asylum ti 4200's on ebay were bought for $90 at the black friday bb sale, and they are making $50 each off them.

Scored at BB at 5 PM Sunday night. Used 10% Preferred Customer Coupon. Two rebates, two rebate receipts, and one original receipt printed out. Going to install it tonight, YAY!

just got home from the bb in edina, mn. they still had 8 on the top shelf in the comp dept. they also pm it to 129.99 - 10% = 116.99 so i ended up getting it, after a little hassle with the csr supervisor, for 64.59 with tax if i come across another 10% off im gonna grab another.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure glad some eBay hoarding seller didn't grab my two beauties (I needed three!). It can't be too hard to find them whole-sale (I saw a 20 pack of WD 80GB drives on Pricewatch for $90 a pc back when they were the largest available).

Fvck, can I print out a copy of the CUSA ad off of the site, or should I just use one from the store?

Only reason I ask is because we don't get a CompUSA ad in our paper

I got one pricematched at $139.99 because the clerk already knew $60 rebates but I used a 10% coupon without problem.($125.99 AC)

I actually stopped by compusa to get a flyer on my way to BestBuy.

The store in Paramus, NJ has a whole stack of the drive.

Bah, I'll just hit CompUSA and grab a flyer. Probably easier that way anyways.

So you PM AFTER you pay?

TIA
