Warranty Policy

Western Digital has adopted a new warranty policy effective October 1, 2002. Western Digital WD Caviar Special Edition hard drives are covered under warranty for a three-year period. All other Western Digital products will be covered under a standard warranty for a period of one year. Products purchased before October 1, 2002 are covered under the product's original warranty, unless otherwise noted on the retail packaging.

If you look at the drive on best buy's site it also clearly states the 3 year warranties as well. Order one tonight. Even though they are on order wanted to beat the deadline for the rebates. Unfortunately I don't have a B&M BB anywhere near me.

Does anyone know of a Best Buy in Los Angeles that has these drives in stock and is willing to pricematch to CompUSA? I tried two stores, in Westwood and West LA. One didn't let me pricematch and the other store was sold out.

wow these things smoke! I unrared a 700 meg file with my ibm deathstar and it took 2:30. I did it with two 100 gig se's raid 0 and it took 59 seconds for the same thing.. oh yes...

Just tell them that everyone else is getting them pricematched. Tell them about it being a well-known/distributed deal and they may be more inclined to accept it. Unless they called up CompUSA themselves to verify that it was a different drive...

I got mine in Edina, MN last night - they have at least 6 or 7 left too
Couldn't find last week's Newsweek for the $10 GiftCard coupon and they wouldn't take my 10% off that expired Monday
Oh well, I'm still happy at $100 incl. tax AR

I can't find the post (little help here?) talking about the Maxtor 40GB for $75 ($35 after $40 rebate) at Best Buy but this drive was $105, rather than $75, before rebate at the Edina store as it was at some other user's BB's

i posted about it -- it has a $45 rebate that is supposed to print out at the register. mine didn't maybe because of the pcc coupon, so i went to cs to get it as the cashier requested -- like i wouldn't
they jacked the price back up to $104+ for some reason yesterday--glad i went monday, almost didn't (almost didn't look in here either) ??? the info was in the compusa advertised price thread and the wd 60gb ymmv thread

Went to bestbuy.com to check the status of my order and I decided to go to the product information page to download the rebate forms (being optomistic). To my surprise this is what it said:
Sorry, no longer taking orders for this item. Not available for store pickup
Now my order is still there, so hopefully they will honor it.

Geez, they just listed the thing 2 days ago! I really hope I don't get passed up on this deal. If I didn't have my lab this weekend I would probaly drive the 2 hours to Mobile and make a day of it!

Oh well, fingers crossed

BTW, if your BB was out of stock... CHECK AGAIN! I checked my local BB, where I personally bought the last two Monday and they had 6 more last night! Now they're all gone again, so I'm lucky I got in on it when I could.

Hey...if I got a raincheck for the HD and it doesn't come in for another week...do you think they will honor the coupon that would have been valid had they had it in stock at the time? Prolly not, but if anyone has ever had to raincheck something before, let me know. Thanks!

I called BB CSRs and they told me that as long as you have your PM paperwork, coupon, and the raincheck states the rebates, then they should deduct all of the above at the cash register....very sweet no REBATES! ....but I called today and they just got them back in stock at my store so I guess i'll have to play the MIR waiting game....

If that's true, I am stoked! I have my raincheck and it lists all the rebates on it. So your telling me I should be able to take that to BB when and if they get my drive in and get all the rebates deducted on the spot!

My luck I will get a call tomorrow saying it's in and I wont be able to pick it up because I have a Lab all day, and by the time I get out of it and drive to BB, they will be closed.

picked up mine yesterday .....$115+tax - $60 MIRs isn't bad at all.....but i do wish that they could of waited until tomorrow to get them in stock so I could of used my raincheck at walked out the store with only paying $55+tax
