WooHoo!!!

Thanks and I score!!! My Best Buy in Fayetteville NC still has 6 left and they allowed me to use the 10% preferred customer coupon and the $10 Instant Gift Card from Gamepro magazine!!! So I ended up paying $75 and Getting a $10 Card and another 100GB's of 8mb cache sweetness for my Firewire box!!!

My doggone firewire box is almost faster than the Wifes native drive in her box! LOL

They are plenty of these drives in my Lincoln area. I don't know if I could use the BB mail-in 10% off coupon and 10% off from the mag.

Which all really doesn't matter in this case as the 2 drives are not the same, and if you're successfull it's just a matter of luck

I just picked up two drives at Best Buy. First one I picked up at Gwinnett Mall, Georgia BB. Tried next to go to Mall of Georgia BB so as not to raise any suspicions.. Well the CSR there was a prick and wouldn't do anything. Decided to go back to Gwinnett Mall, Georgia BB a see if I could grab another one from that store. Scored again Here are the deals:

Drive1: $149.99- PM CUSA =$139.99 - $14.00 (110%PM) - $12.60 (10%Coup)=$113.39-$60MIR=$53.39 + 6.80Tax = $60.19
Drive2: $149.99- PM CUSA =$129.99 - $13.00 (10%Coup)=$116.99-$60MIR= $56.99 + 7.02 Tax = $64.01

Drive1: $0.60 per GB

Drive2: $0.64 per GB

On the first deal the CSR screwed up and PMed the $139.99 price but she did give me the 110% + the 10% coupon so I wasn't really complaining. I'm thinking about going back to get it fixed but then again... maybe I should just be happy with what I got. The second drive I got everything but the 110% guarantee. I really think I should bitch about that one but then again.. they may realize that the whole PM was based on the wrong drive and take it back... oh well still a damn good friggin deal if you ask me.

Thanks again everyone. I saw the deal in the Sunday paper but wasn't going to do anything with it until you guys reminded me of the 10% off coupon that made it too sweet to pass up.

Now I just want to thank the Anandtech forums for turning me onto a few past deals:

First Deal: WDC 120GB SE @ CompUSA for $199.99 - PM to Microcenter at $149.99 + CUSA $100.00 rebate = $49.99 per drive before tax (THANK YOU got two of them running RAID ... WooHoo!!!)

Second deal: Office Depot 256MB DDR for $59.99 - $5.00 InstantRebate - $25MIR =$29.99. As you may remember there was no rebate at Office Depot so the CSR's would give IR down to $29.99. Well then Office Depot released a $65.00 MIR to take care of their screw up.

256MB DDR for $29.99 - $65 MIR = + $35 in pocket . deal 2 times Office Depot paid me $70.00 to buy 512MB of DDR memory WooHoo!!

Thanks again guys and keep these amazing deals coming.

My final total and my outlook on the WD 100GB DRIVE deal. $149.99=$129.99 (pm to compusa)=$116.99 (10% off mag. coupon)=$106.99 (10 off 50 gift card in mag.)=$46.99+tax after rebates of $60.00 WOW I really think they would have let me use the 10% off preferred customer coupon too, but i gave it to another drive buyer. Everyone at the store was great, aim to please type. P.S. still had 8 drives left late mon. nite at brick,nj

I'm suprised this thread has drawn so much attention, I mean CU doesn't have the same drive.
This is kinda lame to try and PM a product that you know they don't even carry.
All in all a great deal with or without using a coupon.

I got a replacement drive. They said that they were out of the WD ones, and gave me a VPR matrix one. It didnt have 8mb cash, but it had a 3yr warntee they told me. and it was a WD drive. The best part was, NO REBATES! $90 out the door on this one. not bad at all. didnt have the coupon, but i could care less. 100 gb for $90 Without a rebare is sweet I think im going to buy the one off the site now. Best Buy has the exact same picture in their ad. Because CompUSA doesn't mention the cache size, no BB employee can just assume that it isn't the special edition when they made the same mistake. There is no way a reader can tell if CompUSA is talking about the special edition or not for the same reason unless you call, go or read this thread (NONE of which they can require you to do).

I picked one up on saturday, in hopes of a return/rebuy on sunday to take advantage of the extra rebates. There were 4 drives there on Saturday when I picked one up. Couldn't find a december issue of any of the magazines to get 10% off, however I did find a printable version of the coupon, and sure enough it worked just fine. However the CSR at BB said that he couldn't price match CompUSA doesn't have a store in our area. Oh well. Still a great deal, thanks!

I'm not talking about the employee's and chances of a successful PM, it's just kinda lame. It's not the same drive, that's all I'm saying. Most of BB's employee's aren't going to be on the up enough to check this but I just don't see how it's a hot deal if it's not legit.(the PM'ing part) Drive is as I said before an awesome deal with coupons or without.
That's all.

The original hot deal didn't have much to do with CompUSA and was still a damn good deal. The "deal" has changed nearly a dozen times since i first subscribed to this thread nearly a week ago. Some of the PM may not be entirely legit however the coupon combined with the rebates (nearly 60 dollars worth) plus a 10 $ gift card (get that first because they won't let you go in and use it at the same time and then go back and get the drive) is a AWESOME deal.

Newsweek.

Its the issue with the North Korean dictator on it with a huge title "Dr. Evil."

I tracked this Newsweek down before I bought my drive (yes, it's the one with Kim "WWIII" Jong Il on the cover). The $10 instant gift card is essentially just a coupon, not combinable with other offers. The 10% off is obviously the better coupon. If you use the $10 instant gift card first and then try to take the 10% coupon to the service desk, you might get an alert clerk who will deny the 10% coupon. Might be worth a try - You gain $10 if it works and lose $5 if it doesn't (if you follow that logic).

I just used the 10% coupon b/c I already had the Maxim and didn't feel like buying the Newsweek for a coupon I might not be able to use.

New question, I bought two of these drives on Sunday from Bestbuy. When I opened them they each included a warrnty paper which stated 3 years. Not that I'm complaining, but isn't 1 year standard now? Perhaps these where manufactured before the cutover? What did everyone else get?
