Forgot to mention my love of Bear McCrary's work on BSG. Fantastic music throughout the series. I'm hooked on his remix of "All along the Watchtower", aka the song of the final five and the notes of which Kara heard and Hera drew. I can't get that song out of my head - I've been humming it past few days, and occasionally before then. I have the soundtracks to the first 3 seasons. Love the Celtic and Indian influences on his work.

And the finale was absolutely fantastic. I just rewatched it. It had everything. Human relationships, a great space battle, great machine battle, surprises and was emotionally moving. Unlike a lot of people I thought Kara's exit was just right.
Though the finale did drag on a bit towards the end. I am guessing that when they show the reruns some of that will be cut since the epi was 11 minutes more than 2 hours. Only people who watch the dvd will ever see it in its entirety again.

As to where it stands amongst other science fiction shows, I rank it high. Unlike many other shows it actually was about people. The change in the relationships between the humans and cylons was the kind of thing that most science fiction shows don't get into.

Did I mention it had hot chicks? Who actually did more than just stand around and look pretty.

Agreed. It just felt easy to get into the series as characters were so relatable.

I loved the escape from New Caprica episode, especially when Galactica came crashing down and then jumped away at the last moment, pretty cool.

As for the show, it was up and down for me. Sometimes it just got overly annoying with all the side character plot lines, or the flashbacks into the past (even though I know they were needed for some of the story line). I think that this last season was terrible, especially the 2nd half, I honestly felt like I was rewatching each new episode over and over again. The last episode def made up for it though, and it was solid.

I don't think the show deserves the credit it's getting, and I haven't finished watching Stargate SG-1 yet (on 5th season), but so far I enjoy that show far more, even though it is more "cheesy".

Great show.

Most memorable moment was when Dualla offed herself. I was so shocked, I just sat there going Uh..WHAT!? even after the episode ended.

series, 7/10, finale, 7/10 best moment ever, when BSG jumped right into New Caprica's atmosphere, 2nd best, When Pegasus jumped into the battle and rammed that basestar.

Best moment in finale? When Tyrol went apeshlt on Torrie, and Cavill ate his gun.

great great show.

One of only 2 shows I've faithfully watched from beginning to end. Firefly being the other I rank this up there with the best of shows both in and out of the scifi genre. Back when ER had Anthony Edwards and Clooney and the whole original cast that show used to tear me apart emotionally. Season 1 of BSG did all of that and then some...

My favorite episode: back in season 1 named "The hand of God" It was when the fleet had to bumrush a telinium (sp?) asteroid that was crawling with cylons....awesome episode in the middle of the best season of TV I ever watched...BSG Season 1 rocked anything on TV at the time...including "Lost"

The escape from New Caprica is a close runner up for my favorite episode.

DeAnna's cylon going MIA in the last half of the final season really seemed a mystery to me. I wonder if she is still wandering about on that dead "Earth" planet? that was a dumb way to go...

Season 3 was tough to sit through what with the soap opera drama...but by then I was already hooked into the characters on the show...I couldn't get enough.

The finale was fantastic. Since watching that finale Ive gone back to wonder if I ever seen a better series finale and I can't come up with any....My favorite moment of the finale was when Laura Roslin was watching the antelope on the grass....prior to that I kept picturing her dying inside the dark and gloomy galactica on a medical bed or in some sort of rusted corner of the ship with everything falling apart around her...it was so sad to see her dying but she made it all the way to earth, to see the blue sky and feel the green grass.

great show. well done. Im sorry to see it end but glad we had a chance to see the resolution...unlike Firefly.

You know what's a GREAT companion to BSG? It reminded me A LOT about the Hyperion series. If the stuff in the Hyperion series (both abstract and explained phenomenon in the book; like the entire ulterior "force" that interweaves between love and life and religion... that medium that they use to travel through their farcaster system)

I swear, Stargate took the Hyperion series idea of the farcasters, and BSG took the farcaster medium and represented it as the "Religion/God."

Laura dying reminds me of one of the characters in Hyperion series, the creator of the "cantos." After his final return to earth, he finally dies happy after orchestrating and leading the main characters to their destiny.

There is always one troll.

He's right. Have you read this forum? Slashdot? Any other online comments?

85% of them are of the vain: "OMG! Why did they have to bring God into it! Yuck!"

It like, did you guys happen to miss the religious nature of the show since Day 1?

My least favorite part of the show was fat Lee Adama, that whole period of the show made me nearly give up on it but I am glad I stuck around for the ride. I really enjoyed the series finale - also for those that hated it the 150k year jump to modern day - it made sense, there is no way tech would have survived that long/been reproduced with the limited facilities they had.

The writers and producers should have gotten together and planned out what they wanted to happen in the end and then wrote the story to fit. This ending is what happens when writers make it up as they go along.
I hope the writers of LOST are not doing things the BSG way. To me the show did not have as much scifi content as other shows, Stargate, Firefly, Babylon 5. I expected the religious content since Larson is a devout mormon but hoped there would be some science. They take a show that is supposed to be scifi and just make up stuff as they go along without explaining things, that is fantasy not scifi.
