Most of the things that Canai points out would annoy the crap out of me too. I hope I don't regret spending fifty bucks on this game. I pride myself in sneaking around/sniping from far off type playing. If every enemy on the board is shooting at me, even from inside the building thru the wall, I"m not gonna be happy.

Yeah unless I'm really not playing this game the 'right' way, I just don't understand why people like it. It's not just the in town fighting that's terrible, but if you're being chased down a road and they disable your vehichle (which they do every time - I haven't been able to out drive the AI yet) you have to bail out of your car, which leaves you stuck in a very enclosed tunnel where you can only go 10 or so meters in each direction off the road before hitting the canyon wall. This game is just endless frustration for me, and I can't play it for more than 30 minutes before rage-quitting. This is coming from someone who played Crysis on Delta and Stalker on the hardest (can't recall the name right now) difficulty, so I like a challenge.

Some of these issues could easily be fixed in a patch, but many of the core game elements just seem neutered and poorly done. Yet another console casualty it would seem.

The game is fun, it looks very good and runs infinity better than Crysis on my system, the engine is impressive. I just got into it and I can't find the damn diamonds, I got my GPS out and walk around until it's solid but there ain't shit I can find Also the light goes from rapid blinking to solid too easy. I'm giving up for the night.

to Canai your vision is going blurry because you have Malaria, I've never had it in real life, but I would imagine having it would make running almost impossible

I understand that, but what I don't get is why a game that claims to have a massive environment for you to explore would impose such artificial limits on your ability to explore.

you can explore, you just have to take your time lol. Maybe as the game progresses the Malaria gets less and less and is finally gone. All the reviews I'm seeing are saying it's pretty good, 8.5 - 9'ish scores. I'm amazed how well it runs on my system with the settings as high as they are. Crysis would be a slide show if I tried to run it the same.

I haven't tried DX9, DX10 is running fine on my box with a measly 8600GS. Maybe I should try DX9 and see if I get better frame rates

I've found lots of wide open areas to to explore. The mountains and such seem to be confined to the northeast area of the map.

However, there is a world of difference between Crysis level graphics and Farcry 2.

Its odd they even call it Far Cry 2.

Is this legally allowed?

What if someone makes a terrible game and to raise sales names it Half-life 3?
Would that be allowed?
It feels like a deceiving act on the developer's part.

Is anyone talking about this aspect?
Any links?

I'm going to give the game another shot, but I'm sorely uninpressed so far. I also had the black screen issue when I first started the game, but the config file edit fix worked for me.

Not only do the cars reset, but everything resets. I went to Mike's bar to find the entire area empty, so I blew up some cans and drove around some. When I came back all the cans and objects had returned to there original position?!?! I also drove back through the lumber yard, which I had cleared out just moments before, and it was populated again?!?!

This game will either need a bunch of tweaks, or a patch I think. I'm having a hard time getting into it with the inconsistent behavior.

I don't have the desire to try to track down links, but I'm sure Ubisoft payed Crytek for the rights to use the Far Cry name. They didn't just swipe it.

The more posts I read, the more I'm convinced this game needs one big mutha of a Patch 1.0. When I get it, I may just leave it in the box until the patch comes out.

I really, REALLY liked the original FC; seems like FC2 is nothing like the original. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm running it at 1920x1200 with most things set to medium with no AA and it runs a smooth as silk with not 1 stutter after 3+ hours of gameplay. I'm going to fiddle around with the graphics settings some because I think I was too conservative. I figured my poor 8800GT couldn't handle it but it does pretty damned good.

Here's a sample screenshot I took:

I think this game will have great replay value and it seems it will take awhile to go through it once.

So, is this just like Crysis?

I liked Crysis a lot. This game is a pile of crap.

So no.

Oh, sweet. I can't leave this building without talking to both of my buddies, but I already talked to both of them and now they're just repeating the same lines over and over. Nevermind, I guess you have to stand in front of them, wait for them to say their whole line, then talk to them again and again before it registers you talking to them. What a joke.

And your vehicle disappears every time you go inside a building. Awesome.

Hmm my vision doesn't go all blurry after sprinting for 15 steps. What's wrong with this badass merc guy?

When you walk with your map out, the little green arrow that's you drops off the bottom of the screen, so you have to stop to orient yourself.

What an incredible disappointment.

I haven't had any problems with vehicles disappearing or the arrow dropping off the screen. Might want to check your graphics settings or you may have a botched install. Your character's sprinting limitation comes from the fact that he has malaria and is need of pills which you pick up from a priest later on in the game.

not sure what you mean about walking with the map out. if anything, it's up too high and i can't see what's in front of me. they should have made this separate from the map and gps.

while the map is out and you're driving, if you look up from it to watch the road, then it "disappears" but its only because you aren't looking at it.

Crysis is nearly identical in game play to the original Far Cry. And Warhead is even better due to the more varied mission structure.

Far Cry 2 doesn't have anything in common with Far Cry. I was even hoping for a token 'Jack' character in a red Hawaiian shirt, but no such luck. The nearest person reminding me of Jack was the Jackal in the beginning cut-scene.

Yeah, DO NOT buy this based on liking the original Far Cry.
The games are nothing alike at all.
Only buy it based on the reviews of Far Cry 2.

This game reminds me A LOT of Boiling Point more than any other game.

Agreed. In terms of game play Crysis is the true successor to Far Cry IMO. Crytek basically added the nanosuit, changed the aesthetics of the enemies, and gave Far Cry a new engine to run on and called it Crysis.

Yep, they acquired the rights. http://www.ubisoftgroup.com/in...VyX3llYXI9MjAwNg%3D%3D

Lol about the leaning... especially because 'q' throws grenades. I'm guessing this is probably because it's a console port, and they simply ran out of buttons to enable the player to lean.

So this game isn't about running through the jungle shooting bad guys?

I guess I got the wrong idea from the screen shots and game play videos.

I won't buy it anyway. DRM sucks.
