Now that the election is over, how long before we see a draft?

I think that the only reason we haven't seen one yet is because a draft will obviously reduce Bush's popularity. But it is going to become necessary as the Iraq quagmire continues and we move back into Afghanistan with the new threats, and also for the invasions of Iran, Syria, France, and Canada. :evil: So now that the next 4 years are "secured", I think it is coming very soon.

he probably won't do it in the first two years. After that all bets are off. He doesn't have worry about re-election now, so he can basically do whatever the hell he wants.

Since he is predisposed to starting pre-emptive wars, if he is gonna make trouble with NK or Iran, he's gonna need to get troops from somewhere.

IIRC, draft age is 18-26... they take'd take many more from the 18-20 yr old range before they dip into those 21+

Also, my opinion is no draft.... CONGRESS will not declare war (necessary for draft right?)

There won't be a draft simply because any politician voting for it would be committing political suicide. It isn't a particularly popular war, so telling your electorate that you want to send their kids to it is a bad idea. Sure, some will say "but Dubya got reelected," but are we already forgetting by how much?

Good. Since I'm almost 24, probably be 25 before it starts I should be safe. By the time they finish bleeding the 18-20 year olds out I should be out of the range.
