Arguing about being fired is irrelevant. It's the mentality that some people have that they're on the street or still back in school and they can just haul off and cold-cock someone without any repercussions. He tosses his ID as if to say "Ok...NOW Im done" and walks away as if nothing will happen to him.

That was a devastating punch. I agree with the sentiment here though, too many people failed to stop him knowing he was escalating. That manager as well should have been trained to defuse the situation but instead further ignited it. Overall though, that employee should have just shut the fuck up and left.
