they simple want to make people not travelling
Yet Americans still travel and use the airports.
I find it pretty funny how americans laugh at brits for having CCTVs but at the same time can't go flying without getting buttfucked by a TSA agent.
personally I'm glad I don't have to deal with either.
It gets disturbingly unfunny when most people say they're cool with it. D:
Their goal is to get the American public used to ever escalating intrusions into personal liberties.
They are planning for the inevitable social unrest once the Republicans siphon enough wealth out of the middle class.
Things will not get better until the Revolution.
"A guy who one-shots his coffee before it even cools down"? ([thread=2258293]thread[/thread])I would so do that, unless it was a cup of steaming hot coffee like that guy is handing over.
Yet Americans still travel and use the airports.
They've always done that. There's a code on your ticket marking you for a random search.

and yet it's okay to take cigarette lighters on a plane without question
Good solution to this? When they ask to check it, chug whatever it is, hand them the empty container, and walk away.
It's just turning into one of those things people are accepting because they there's nothing they can do about it.
I fly at least a dozen times a year and never have seen TSA waiting at any gate for people boarding
dude ive seen this at DIA, Ohare and Indy. they "randomly" take 3-4 passengers at the gate and do a pat down. granted i have not seen this in a couple of years but I have personally witnessed it.
This is the issue. The TSA are the gatekeepers of you getting on your flight. If you are visiting and staying with family you are out the cost of your tickets (which isn't likely very cheap). If you are going on vacation you have the cost of your tickets, hotel, car rental, etc all wrapped up on getting on that flight. On top of that Americans typically have very limited vacation time so missing out on that trip has a pretty high opportunity cost. All of that adds up to the fact that very very few people are willing to risk angering the wrong TSA agent on the chance that it screws them out of this and possibly future trips.
It isn't that all people are mindless sheep it is that the risk vs reward for standing up to TSA intrusion for an individual is heavily skewed such that the risk is extremely high and the odds of any reward (aka limiting TSA authority) is very low. No elected official will ever curtail the TSA in any way. To do so would invite attack and guarantee the loss of re-election.
Between the airlines themselves (smaller seats; less leg room; charging for checking a bag, checking a carry on in some cases, for window seats, for aisle seats, for getting any kind of snack at all) to the TSA, and the airports inflated prices on everything flying sucks. But there is literally zero I can do to improve any of the negative aspects if I want to continue going to places that require taking a plane.
