Now what ??

I've had this X2 3800+ for awhile and just decided to try for an OC. It seems stable with two instances of Prime95. I started pretty high shooting for 2.5Ghz. I currently have it running at:

4x HTT
166Mhz RAM divider (Corsair Value Ram at 208.3Mhz)
250 CPU clock w 10x multi

I haven't touched the voltages for anything, and CPU-Z reports core voltage at 1.296v - 1.312v

So, what should I try next? The last CPU I really successfully overclocked was my XP 2500+ to 3200+, which wasn't rocket science.

Dual prime95 torture test for 24hours? Memtest to make sure the mem is still 100% stable? Make sure you are still getting decent load temps?

I'm getting 39 C idle, 46 C load via MSI's PC Alert.

Also, forgot to mention my HSF is a Zalman 7700-Cu.

I will run Dual Prime 95 tests starting tonight after a WoW session. Did I start too high at 2.5Ghz or should I try for more before I run Prime 95 for a full 24 hours?

Your temps look good. 2.5 is pretty common for a 3800 X2 from what I have seen, you might be able to squeeze some more out of yours since you haven't upped the vcore much. My 4200+ is at 2.618ghz but with 1.475 vcore, load temps of 51c(which isn't bad considering I am using the stock heatsink). I'd run dual prime95 overnight, then try for some more after that.

I have the identical stepping I can run 250x10 1:1 no divider needed and also can do 260x10 at 1:1 but have not spent time testing, the 2.5 speed happens on 1.4v core
