Now... Which is better the k7t-pro2 or the ASUS A7V?

With all these boards that keeps on coming out of the market. W/c is the best mobo the ASUS A7V, MSI K7-Pro2 or the Abit KT7-RAID. Help i wanted to choose the best. Not to expensive, good to overclock and good Stability.

They are all decent boards. The MSI is the cheapest. The KT7 has the RAID, the A7V has the ATA100 and the extra USB header included. However, the MSI board will also soon have ATA100.

So would you recommend the ASUS A7V to me i already have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 with the creative Annihilator ultra etc. or the MSI would be just fine.

i would recommend the A7V, i just upgraded from a MSI K7T PRO to this board. the asus board has a lot more features and tweaks.

Although I've only installed one on a friends
system, I would give the nod to the MSi
board although you can't buy the k7t pro2
as of yet and won't be able to buy
the ata100 version for quite some time.

You should also consider the Epox EP-8KTA2
if Ultra ATA-100 is of interest to you.

That board is out and available right NOW
which we cannot say for the K7T Pro2
let alone it's successor The Pro2A

As for the A7V, I had one and sent it back.

The board has received glowing reviews, but
for me, it didn't like my Scsi card or my SB Live card.

I've had the Epox for a week now and it was just
a pleasure to install compared to the Asus board.

The ATA100 is definetely trouble free in this board
and all peripherals seem to install flawlessly
regardless of slot.

The MSI Pro2 is a solid board that offers a set of features that is comparable to the Asus A7V. Unlike its predecessor, the K7T Pro, the Pro2 offers all the tweaks such as multiplier that were previously unavialable.

The main differences are:
- Price: MSI K7T Pro2 is a tad cheaper, though harder to find right now
- ATA100: The Pro2 does not have ATA100, though it definitely will if you are willing to wait awhile.
- USB Ports: The A7V supports 7 USB ports, and also includes an additional header so you can use 5.
- BIOS features: The MSI Pro2 offers the ability to adjust everything in the BIOS. The A7V requires that you adjust the multiplier using DIP switches. The jumperfree mode for voltage and FSB is also a bit flaky (at least in my board).
