It seems like most of the people in this thread who have a problem with Denis are people who weren't even here when this all went down.
I was a lurker up until Jan 2000. I remember nowheremom posts and remember bits of this as it went down. I didn't know the full story until a couple of years later.
imho, if you weren't here to be affected by it yet insist on bitching about it, then stfu & gtfo.
If you were here to be affected by it, and still feel animosity regarding it, that's your prerogative.
i'm still amazed that people will believe what they read on the internet.

Listen. One of the main reasons, on top of fulfilling reitz's thread, for going through all this trouble with the radio program and clarifying stuff on air and in this very thread (and the one at Ars technica) is so anyone can simply point to this broadcast and relevant threads the next time some ATOT newcomer asks about what happened were someone to post a remark that hints at this unfortunate series of events (as happens from time to time).
BBC4 will host the broadcast for only a week. If it is not available elsewhere, this defeats one major purpose of this exercize and I am not inclined to go though this again in the future to answer a noob's query for it is emotionally draining for me and many others.
A listener of Jon Ronson's recorded the program and kindly tweeted me "feel free to share it". This person deserves our thanks for it gives ATOT members a link to access if needed in the future. If it's never needed, then it's never needed.
I have no intention of putting this in my sig. If asked about this again in the future (after this thread has run its course), I plan to simply answer by linking this thread and the one at Ars so the person who inquires get the info and links therein. If that person needs more clarification, I'll do this in PM.
I had occasion to link to this thread yesterday, actually.
someone actually asked you who was the most pathetic attention-whore you know?
Really? Link?A no0b in another thread was accused of being Nowheremom II.
Denis might come across creepy, but he has been nothing but decent, helpful, and reasonable in all of my interactions with him. I even used to run a forum he was a member of, and he was extremely well-behaved.
I really don't get why you (and some others) are so butt-hurt about the situation.
I joined shortly after all this went down, and frankly to this day I don't really care. My feeling is that some of you really get too involved in shit that goes down on the internets, and need to seriously lighten up.
Nowheremom is dead?!
Welcome to OT.Just joined this forum, so I could follow up on Jon Ronson's story, by searching around the tragidrama that was "NowhereMom".
I am a regular listener of his shows and a fan of his work in general.
I have to say Dennilfloss - you came across as a pretty sad, lonely and desperate individual, and not a particularly likable character, not even in the pitying sense.
It was however, compelling listening in the "car crash" demanding your attention kind of way.
The best bit by far was Jon unable to contain himself, and respect the gravity with which you portrayed the situation - bursting out laughing when you were recalling the memorial site with the purple background and "cut away head shot" of the porn actress.
It was funny, in such a sad, sad way.
