Good to see commie radio programs going away.

goddamn teabaggers

I think there must be some of that. Somebody I know who's shamefully right wing things NPR is very far leaning left, which is total shit. I get news from a bunch of sources and NPR is about the most trustworthy one there is. To pretend it is in the same vein as MSNBC is a downright shame.
I don't listen to the show mentioned, but to me the worse loss for NPR is that the guys who did Car Talk retired. IMHO, it was easily the best show on NPR.
And if there's anything to rightfully complain about NPR it's that the network retains Diane Rehm whose voice makes me change the channel any time she's on. Why they didn't forcibly retire her considering she now sounds 500 years old is beyond me; she's utterly unlistenable.
NPR were the ones that fired Juan Williams for refusing to pander to political correctness. They also received money from GEORGE SORROS which tells a lot about what is going on with them.
Share how he makes you feel! Why do you support terrorists?
jesus christ you are such a fucking idiot. get back to P&N you puss-dripping simpleton.
lol, yeah I hate to say it but I can't stand listening to her either. I respect that she's still working and doing a show but her voice and how slow she talks just turns me off. Sorry Diane.
Fucking sucks "Talk of the Nation" is cancelled. Why cancel that, but leave that bullshit show on during the weekends (not sure if it's Saturday, Sunday, or both)? I forget the name of it, but it's an old guy in front of a live audience and it's supposed to be comedy but I don't find the guy funny in any sense of the word whatsoever.
I can't stand the way Neal Conan talks, too many inflections if that makes sense.
That said, he seems like a nice guy and I heard on Ken Rudin say that Conan was starting a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii now that he is retired.

I find just about every NPR presenter's voice to be grating. It's like they chew their words and are too breathy at the same time. Still, I enjoy the depth of the reporting. They just need to cut (way) back on the human interest stuff.
Hahaha, yeah I guess that's the name of it. Just not a fan. Like lxskllr said it is pretty corny but I can't stand that kinda stuff.lol, Prairie Home Companion? Kealor is also retiring, so I believe both shows will be gone in a year.
Its amazing that all of the "activists" that complain about corporate welfare and corporate tax evasion seem to have no problem with public funding of NPR...
huh?
some 80% of NPR operation costs is obtained from donors--you realize this does not refer to federal/state funding, right? These are unrestricted donations.
....unless you are suggesting that many of the donations come from large local and national businesses who pretty much receive tax benefits for making those donations. But as is often the case, these monies are only released if individuals donate matching amounts at allotted time points.
This means no more Science Friday with Ira Flatow?
Pros: NPR has the most thorough and in-depth reporting of any news outlet
Cons: NPR only reports stories that are consistent with its political viewpoint

Yes, I am aware of that. The question is why are they provided a tax exempt status, and why do they receive any federal funding at all? They are a media outlet.
Also love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me...

it helped keep me up on political news and races around the US.
