NT Administrator Question

My sister-in-law was given her "tele-commute" machine by her employeer when they went out of business as part of her severence package. There is an administrator password set-up on it and she can't get in to make any changes. I am not sure what, if any, software she was given with it. Is there a work-around?

the only work around is to format.

there is software that will clear the admin password but its pretty expensive

id say just throw in a XP cd and format.

Really depends on how much effort you are willing to expend and how up to date her company was on patches and service packs. Go do a search on NT security and follow some of the links.

Nope. I've got a "utility" that can recover lost Admin passwords on NT 4.0. It's on a floppy disk that you need to boot to. I've used it a couple times to sucessfully recover passwords.

No such luck for W2k though.
