NTLDR is missing

Running a pair of drives in a Raid 0 (striped) array.
Running two individual drives in addition to the above

cannot "boot" to recovery console Hitting f6 the whole tike does nothing
I can hit delete and get into the bios but that is it I guess I need to to be in recovery console to do a "map arc" Let me know why this won't give the option of recovery console

First of all, to get to recovery console you'll need to boot from your XP CD and then hit R when prompted. About 2 minutes prior to that, though, while the CD is still booting, you'll see a prompt on the bottom of the screen for a moment saying hit F6 to specify additional storage drivers; you should do this and put in a floppy with your vendor's RAID drivers.

no, but I know exactly what you are talking about. My main concern is to keep all of my valuable info on the raid drive setup.

Your previous message said you'd tried hitting F6 to get into the recovery console, so perhaps you can see why this is so confusing for us.

Read Smilin's message from 5/25 at 4:08pm and follow his instructions.

was able to do as said and ran a chkdsk /p and chkdsk found one or more erros on thevolume Now what?

If I enter the command " fixboot" it asks me if I want to write a new bootsector to the partition "c" do I want to do this?

Ok, could not remember my password in "r" console so a friend told me to go ahead and re-install wind xp. This would leave all my files systems intact. All went well. Now on startup, it asks which windows xp to boot to? I chose my first install just to see what would happen,... low and behold all my programs, desktop, email, everything is there like it was. Can I get rid of the option to log into the other windows xp setup? Or will I always have to choose? Thanks in advance

In the root of your C: drive, there is a hidden, system, read-only file called boot.ini.

1. Set your folder view options so you can see this file
2. Set the properties on the file to remove the read-only attribute
3. Edit the file in notepad.
4. You'll find the default entry which corresponds to one of the entries listed below it. Keep the corresponding entry and remove any others.
5. Set the boot time to the number of seconds you wish (I typically use 3 seconds)
6. Save the file. If it prompts you for a rename when you try to save, you forgot step 2.
