I can tell you flat out that it's not anywhere to be had in the US (I don't know about anywhere else)! Gigabyte probably sent Tom a pre-production board for his i845G roundup - but it could be available in Germany (where Tomshardware conducts much of their testing).

Perhaps if enough people ask Gigabyte for the board, they will respond to the demand...

I have to agree with ralf hutter make sure you compare the intel board. Also go into detail as to what is bundled with the retailed versions of the boards.

I would really like to see a review of the PX845G Pro II from Albatron. They are new to the business and so it is very hard to find any reviews of this board but it has RAID, ATA133, onboard sound, LAN, basicly everything the EpoX 4G4+ seems to have. And I would love to see the two compaired since the 8IGXP seems to be vaporware.

I'd like to see of the on-board graphics are really as good as a GeForce2 MX 200 (or 400), and what refresh rates are supported by the on-board video. My interest would be using an all-in-one MB based on this chipset.

It doesn't. Compare Anands's numbers or read xbit's review, they're about the same performance.

I had emailed Giga-byte US sales and support recently asking them about 8IGXP. I got a reply and it's going to be released in September! So, let's see what happens.

I wrote to Gigabyte and they told me:

Dear Sir,

8IGXP is only a test model for media. And also as you said the 8IGX is similar with it, actually the same performace with it. Therefore we only release 8IGX.
The similar function such as IEEE 1394, please refer to 8IEXP http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/8iexp.htm


So I went and ordered a something else. (Just yesterday in fact). So I guess I shouldn't be suprised that Gigabyte now decideds to release the board. Oh well.

If you could also cover whether using the On-board hardware affects performance in any way ?

I have disabled the on-board sound on my ASUSP4S533, as the quality was not as good as my Creative SB Live.

There seem to motherboards coming with on-board graphics now, which obviously are not all that great, but how badly do the on-board hardware actually affect performance would be interesting to know.

what im looking for is the ability to handle such high FSB, which boards can handle this, which boards can handle this with the onboard video enabled, etc.

I received all the 845G boards on August 8th, so I've had exactly 2 weeks to mess around with the boards. But I've released two reviews since then, and am working on SiS 648/KT400 stuff as we speak, so the 845G roundup hasn't had all the time in the world to get done. However, expect a review by the end of this month.
