How do I get rid of the #1 (2, 3 etc) at the end of my banner?

And while I'm here how do I deregister my Office #4 handset which is broken and I don't use anymore. Now I have an Office #5 handset

Wut?
I’m a former telecom guy and I have no idea what this is about other than maybe it is a voip thing or managed system thing.

Are people really confused about what I mean here??

The Banner? That text you see on the phone when it's not being used? Above the time and the date?? It might say something like New CID: 2 if you have new CIDs.

Menu/handset setup/Banner is how you get to where you can edit it using the key board. The handset I have with me now says Office #5. Is there a way to remove the #5. I looked in that manual but couldn't figure it out

Like in this picture here. This isn't my phone it's just an example of what I mean by banner. See where it says Handset 1? That's the banner.

How can we be confused since you have provided zero information on what phone you even have?

It would be like I signed up somewhere and said "How do I change a setting on my cell phone?".

And then to top it off, you come back and link some random picture (one that is not even the phone you own)?

You said you looked in the manual, but don't see it. So how could we give you any kind of answer?

Honestly no, I had no idea.
Per your picture it appears to be a cordless phone. The phone name is going to be in the settings somewhere. If it is a voip setup that’s going to be in the voip account (I think I’m not knowledgeable with voip)

This is just standard cordless phone tech.
You can't remove the number.
You can change it though.
The number indicates the order in which the handset(s) were linked (registered) to the base unit.
------------------------------------------
For a Vtech and most Dect 6.0 cordless phones

Replace a handset or reassign the designated handset number
If you want to replace a handset or reassign the designated handset number of a registered handset, you must deregister all the handsets and then individually register each handset.
To make deregistration easier, read all of the instructions on this page before you begin. To deregister all handsets:
1. Press and hold FIND HANDSET on the telephone base for about 10 seconds (until the IN USE light on the telephone base turns on and starts to flash), then release FIND HANDSET.
2. Press and release FIND HANDSET again. You must press FIND HANDSET while the IN USE light is still flashing. The IN USE light flashes for approximately seven seconds.
3. All system handsets show CONNECTING... The deregistration process takes about 10 seconds to complete. All handsets show NOT REGISTERED when the deregistration completes.
If deregistration fails, you might need to reset the telephone and try again.
To reset:
1. Pick up the registered handset and then press "Talk/Flash"
2. Press OFF/CLEAR and place the handset back in the telephone base.
-OR-
1. Unplug the power from the telephone base, then plug it back in.
