Numlock disabled completely on imac

So I'm working on an imac which seems to be struggling quite seriously with the numlock key. For whatever reason, it will not enable numlock resulting in the number pad not functioning. Furthermore, I've noticed that it makes the numlock key function like a tab button, moving my cursor from a blank form to another form. I'm at my wits end with this one and its very frustrating when working with a financial program. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

So apparently, hitting ctrl twice in a row fixed the issue. Odd eh?
