"A nurse struggles to find a balance between the demands of her frenetic job at a New York City hospital and an array of personal dramas."
Starring Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano)
You can watch it online:
http://www.sho.com/site/order/...#/Nurse_Jackie_s01_e01
Note that it has been edited online because, well, its a Showtime show.

I caught the premiere last night, and it was pretty good. Don't let the description put you off. It's a Showtime show so there is some neat, not for regular tv stuff.
I didn't see Showtime advertising it much, but it's pretty good.
I hear it already has gotten real nurses in an uproar.

No. Only grabbed.

And to answer Chryso they edit it online so Showtime doesn't become a target for the religious wacko's who think graphic violence is ok but showing a boobie is the end of Western Civilization.

It just popped up in Netflix streaming recently, since it seems to have a positive buzz I added it to my que. I have no idea what it is about, other than it has a nurse named Jackie.

I saw it on Netflix last night. If it was edited, I couldn't tell. Plenty of foul language and I think a split second of butt-crack. Pretty good. Its not terribly realistic but I find most of the entertaining TV shows these days are not.

One of the critiques on Netflix:

" 1/5 While I am always willing to grant a writer poetic license, this program was so outrageously unrealistic in its portrayal of nurses, it actually made me angry to watch. It doesnt make other healthcare professionals look very good, either, and that is unfair. I have worked in and around emergency rooms for 20 years as an EMT, ER technician, and transplant professional and the behavior of Nurse Jackie and her colleagues would simply not be tolerated anywhere. Few areas of a hospital have greater oversight, and the numerous transgressions presented in this episode would not go unnoticed or unpunished. Although this is obviously a work of fiction, I worry that the program will erode the publics trust in these higly skilled professionals who save thousands of lives every day. Edie Falco and Showtime should be ashamed."

I give it a 5/5, and I dont piss and moan every time sometime makes a Navy movie that is completely stupid. Annapolis was utter bullshit, but still mildly entertaining. McHales Navy and Down Periscope made us look like fucking goof-balls, but I still laughed my ass off.

Yeah, it's un-edited on Netflix, but edited on Showtimes site.
It's getting slammed by real nurses and health professionals who entirely miss the idea that its satire, comedy and tragedy. Not a documentary.
Geez, it's not supposed to be realistic. Why can't people accept that?
btw some people are comparing it to Dexter, but I don't see the resemblence.

Because most medical professionals have an ego the size of Montezuma.

I wonder how many cops complain about NYPD Blue or how many fireman complain about Rescue Me.

I think it all depends on the tone of the show. I haven't seen Nurse Jackie so I cant really comment but no one really complained about Scrubs because it was so clearly a comedic satire of medicine. But if the show carries a semi-serious tone then a lot of viewers will have trouble distinguishing whats supposed to be accurate and whats totally fiction.

Theres a pretty intelligent mix of ridiculousness and seriousness. The writing is really quite excellent.

Like 'the wire'?

I can't remember if people complained about it - or 'the sopranos'.

There were complaints about 'big love' - probably because it was too revealing and accurate.

Saw it and found it to be a tad too unrealistic but somewhat entertaining. Don't think I'd watch it again because of her, not the storyline.

Season one is over. I liked it quite a bit. Much much better than US of Tara. Will watch S2.

While I like the premise of this show, there are no hotties on this show, so I passed.

Saw edie falco on craig ferguson earlier this month. She and craig were not a good match at all. She acted kinda like the character on the show - and the sopranos. She's an excellent actor nevertheless - just not likable. While no beauty, it looks like they try hard to not give any hint of glamor.

I'm guessing, that for gays, there are hotties on this show.

It's still better than hung. Didn't even watch the last couple of episodes yet.

What? Hung is great if you edit out the ex-wife, the ex-MIL, the jew, and the two ugly children.
