(but who knows?)

The Guru3D has put up some rumoured NV30 specs. Here are some bullets:

* 73M transistors
* 8 Pipelines
* Quad Vertex Shader
* Dual Pixel Shader
* Dual Z-Buffer
* Advanced Anisotropic ("12nvx mode")
* T&L "co-processor" (can anybody say 3dfx/Sage?)
* Glide capable (this makes you wonder...)
* 256-bit memory interface
* 750 MHz. DDR

The sheer bandwidth would be amazing. You would, effectively, double the bandwidth of the highest,
overclocked Ti4600!

Sounds like BS to me. It's supposed to come out this fall right? In that case, forget the 750MHz DDR.... And it also seems that every new generation since the original Geforce has been rumored to have more pixel pipelines, yet the trend has really just been to jack up the clockspeed of the design instead (going from 120MHz of the GF1 to over 300MHz today). I would expect that to continue..

Well well well, all those assets of 3Dfx come back to life again. Glide was the best capable 3D API, good to see it back.

Just a note, the ti4600 was a huge card, I wonder how big this card will be??

Glide was the best capable 3D API, good to see it back.

Propietary APIs like Glide only came to be because D3D was in it's infancy, and because for some odd reason no consumer card manufacturer saw OpenGL as a viable alternative until GLQuake came out. Since D3D has matured and every GFX chip out there has functional OpenGL drivers, there's no need for propietary APIs anymore. And I say good riddance - near it's death Glide managed to all but ruin several gaming experiences (Unreal-based titles such as Deus Ex and Wheel of Time) for a majority of gamers out there.

No need to worry though, these specs are a load of BS anyway, a late april fools joke or something of that nature. For instance, look at this snippet:

(secondary coprocessor) Shall handel all T&L now called TT&L (True Time and lighting) .

Vertex shaders are the T&L in post-DX8 cards. There's no mention at all about them when talking about the separate coprocessor. And what the heck does "True Time and lighting" mean? Clearly these specs are fabrication by someone who hasn't got a clue on 3D hardware.

Anyone who has a complete library of glide games and has a Geforce in his system wired to a Voodoo will be very happy if nVidia brought out integrated Detonator/Glide drivers. I Wonder if it supports 32 bit now? Love to see Glide come back as it is the ONLY api i have experience of with NO crashes, freezes, or lockups plus excellent framerates. Still remember putting UT into Direct3D mode on my Voodoo3 and instantly went back to Glide mode.:frown:

I would love to go back and play the first Unreal game at high res, anisotropic filtering, full anti-alaising. Oh man, it would be sweet.

woah.
"NVBlur - a new version of Glide"

Found this in the NVMax forums , thanks to Mrsinster for the pointer. Just rember RUMORED Spec`s! BTW we have our own ideas of the name and specs but .. will wait a tad longer.
Nvidia OMEN
Send your power hungry games a warning NO a OMEN!
With enuff raw graphic power to scare the Devil him self and enuff graphical beauty to make Da Vinci jealous!
Nvidia`s Omen will obliterate the power hungry nature of your games and your senses as well!
===================================
You wanted NV30 RUMORED spec`s?
Here they are!!!!
Please rember these are RUMORED spec`s NOT final or 100% factual....
Just RUMORED spec`s!

Omen Card
AGP 4x and 8x
Copper Core Gpu Processor 0.13 m default clock 450 MHz
73 million transistors
8 pipes
Quad Vertex Shaders
85 bone capable
Lightspeed Memory Architecture II
Quad Cache memory caching subsystem
Dual Z-buffers for greater compression without losses
visibility subsystem
NvAuto pre-charge
Advanced Anisotropic Filtering:
A new 12nvx mode that delivers improved subpixel coverage ,texture placement and quality.
12nvx mode should deliver 80% better subpixel coverage and placement than previous modes

A seprate second processor running at 450Mhz an 0.13m as well
Will handel all T&L now called TT&L (True Time and lighting) .
Plus new NVShaper a prechached and precacheable system.
That has precached shapes cirles,squares,triangles,and other shapes.
Programmers can also add shapes to be temporaly stored in it`s precache to speed things up. This should speed things up and make standard shapes more accurate!

128 MB DDR-SDRAM @ 375 MHz x2 = 750Mhz and 256 bit yes 256 bit!
370Mhz RAMDAC
Direct X 9.X compatable
Latest Open Gl
backward glide capable
Comes with New NvBlur (Yes a new version of Glide!)
NView Multi-display Technology

There maybe A new form of cooling the gpu`s . Where the Gpu`s have a hole in the middle and through the board.
So, the hottest area of the Gpu`s gets proper cooling.

doubling the render pipes and the vertex pipes would result in far more than 73M transistors.

<< if I understand this - theres 2 gpu's on board????? >>

All future 3dfx products were coming like this nad since nvidia got their assets, it's only natural that they start doing it.

However AGP does not allow you to have access to the AGP-specific functions with a second chip on the card(I am not sure if that includes the DMA channel). The last Voodoo cards were overglorified PCI cards. It wouldn't make sense for them to add a second chip to the board as it would greatly increase production costs and introduce a performance penalty due to loss of AGP features. It would also negate the benefit of having AGP 8x , unless it is just on their for marketing reasons.

The second chip on the last 3DFX cards wasn't much of a strength as a stop-gap to hold of the increasing performance of Nvidia's cards until 3DFX could produce a single chip that could compete. They couldn't even get the Voodoo 6 to market as its 4 chip layout was way too expensive.

256 bit memory interface ? I really doubt it....it would be technically very difficult to design board with 256bit memory bit interface.......very few things use a 256bit memory interface ( exmpale PIII Cache)
Glide ...unlikely....DX is much more mature now...
(What do you other think of the possiblity of a 256bit Mem interface..)
2 GPU on board..unlikley too......with a 256 bit mem interface..no way.......
