Stolen from elsewhere:

"3050 - 23.8% of full die cores, 276mm², 128-bit bus, 8GB GD6, PCIe4 x8 - $250
4060ti - 23.6% of full die cores, 190mm², 128-bit bus, 16GB GD6, PCIe4 x8 - $500"

Screwy stuff indeed.
This is probably from TomPo75 from videocardz comments.
BTW 3050(GA107) doesn't have 276mm², but ~200mm² or less, but then in the comparison Nvidia wouldn't look as bad, although selling a comparably sized chip with 2x more performance and 2x more Vram for double is still pretty greedy.

As many said, for $399 this would be a very good deal, but $499 is too much for extra 8GB Vram.

$400/$500 for +15% performance?
No thank you....
My message was mainly for the stubborn Nvidiots who siimply want to upgrade from their 3060 Ti for DLSS3. Their thinking might be, "I'm doing OK with 3060 Ti. Gonna get the 4060 Ti to stay up to date". My advice to them, spend the extra $100 for the VRAM or you will regret upgrading when your 8GB card performs like a 3050 in future games with high VRAM requirements.

The proper advice is to not upgrade and wait for the 4060 Super or the 5060.

Insulting other people is the first thing one does to SEVER any chance for a constructive conversation.
Fair enough. If the mods consider Nvidiot an insult, I will cease and desist. I personally don't think the Nvidia owners mind it that much. They wear it like a badge of honor, much like Trumpians.

HEY!

I got a 4070ti mkay?

And with the new compression algorithms, it will get an extra +30% of vram, mkay? 4070ti 15.6GB edition, profit? xD

We'll see when they release that and also if the compression quality is acceptable or not

Nvidia is going more and more in the direction where AI will hallucinate what it thinks the game should look like, instead of the original game developer's intent.

And if it actually runs on this generation or whether you have to buy a 5000-series card that has the price/performance otherwise.
Very possible. Nvidia ain't giving anything for free, just like they are not giving DLSS3 to even 3090 owners.

Yep, I fear DLSS4 will be exclusive to the 50-series. This gen is a pretty good example of what to expect or worse.
Nvidia moved to a much better process with Ada, yet for the same money we get only 10-15% better performance not because Ada is bad, but because they decreased chip sizes compared to previous gen.

I personally am not against frame generation, but the problem is that you need high FPS to not notice artifacts in the generated frame and If you have >100FPS you don't really need to enable It, and It also negatively affect input lag.
You have RTX 4060 and only 40FPS in a game, so you enable It, you end up with 54FPS, but you will notice artifacts in the image.
I am very dissatisfied with this.

And for those who do not notice any artefacts because they are not looking - well can't we just change FPS counter for them by adding 30% on top of the existing numbers (just make sure to display the result as an integer as floating numbers might get noticed!) /s

Even worse, the real frame rate will drop. So when it comes to input lag, they might actually only have an FPS of 30.

The artifacts are also more noticeable at lower frame rates and DLSS is less useful if you aren't turning 80+ FPS into 130 FPS, but are struggling to get to a real 60+ FPS in the first place.

So DLSS 3 is less useful for these lower end cards than for 4070+ cards.

The pricing should be $199 for 4060. $249 for 4060ti 8GB and $299 for 4060Ti w/16GB vram. I guess people will have to wait a bit. The memory prices are in the tank and super cheap. Nvidia is just being greedy. That 128bit bus is another joke for another day.

As long as most people keep paying Nvidia, the holdouts waiting for better days will keep waiting. Some rogue engineer from one of the AIBs better leak some board design specs so people can start modding their cards with more VRAM on their own.

By the way, we have AMD and Intel cards available that can play like 99% of current DX12 games just fine with no or minor problems. If Nvidia's practices seem unfair to you, drive the stake straight into their hearts and buy the alternatives. Nothing will change until YOU send the message to Nvidia with YOUR dollars.

Let's not forget that EVGA left the GPU market entirely as a AIB maker. Nvidia must have screwed over EVGA pretty bad during crypto.

Don't forget that AMD COO or one of those 3 letter executives was taking open bets on the availability of RDNA 2 cards shortly before launch. Saying AMD would not have any issues supplying the GPU market. Nvidia said they would have problems making enough GPU's. What is sad, Nvidia had a better supply of GPU's than AMD.

I guess those lost Nvidia GPU shipping containers in South Korea that were discovered during the height of the crypto mining craze changed their tune. I think they found at least 50K in 3080Ti cards. Maybe more.

There could be more. Way more. Once the miners really give up and can't find any good use for their 3000 series cards, the market should get flooded really badly with all those powerful cards. I guess a lot of them are HODLing to their stash of 100 or so mining cards in hopes that mining may see a revival.

They have shipping containers full of brand new cards. I can't understand if they plan to sell them or throw them in the garbage. None of it makes sense. People are losing interest in building PC's because the cost of entry is not worth the investment. Nvidia has tons of 3070-3080 cards that just disappeared. You would think AMD would want to gain market share by selling a ton of 6800xt's.

I have been reading this for over a year. Any day now...

My magic 8 ball says there isn't going to be a flood. Those ragged out cards will be reconditioned, harvested for parts, and remanufactured by the almost cottage industry that has surged in the wake of the crypto crash. Companies like 51RISC, MLLSE, AISURIX, and others.

I think the issue they aren't on the market yet is that those original miners scammed people who wanted to get into crypto around the end of the mining boom and suckered them into buying their rigs. And now those basically defrauded headless chickens are HODLing onto their cards hoping their investment will pay off one day.

Maybe those cards aren't missing and maybe nVidia bought up the mining cards and maybe nVidia is keeping prices high so people flock to their cloud based GPU service.
