<< I have heard that id demonstrates Doom 3 in E3 using Parhelia . Multimonitor Doom 3 demonstration is also possible. >>

That would be awesome. However, I have no allegiance to one manufacturer. Who ever gets the crown gets my cash!

You know all these manufacture want is to hype up whatever their next product is and what it COULD DO, not what it actually DO. Hype is like advertisement which will atleast sell their product at its initial release.

Look at bitboys product <--- Its all talk and no show crap. I'll bet my money when bitboys actually release their product, IT WILL STINK(But then they might not ever release one). No company had released a product in perfect forms the first time.

Matrox G1000 isn't gonna do much either. Paper talk again! just like the G400's.

Ati's R300 might eat up the current Geforce4 like copson donut. I have some faith in ATI as they had acted up since the redeons.

Now NV30, If they ever incorporates 3dfx tech that'll be a killer!!!!!

<<

<< Why is it a joke? The P4 now enjoys the status as the world's fastest desktop processor and it's mainly due to the fact that it's doing exactly what it was designed to do - ramp up in clock speed. >>

I have some friends who would argue that the wonderful ramp up in speed for the P4 seems kinda useless as they are Socket 423 users. ;(

Having to upgrade your motherboard just to up your clockspeed on a system that is only 3 months old tends to make people angry.
>>

Whoever bough a S 423 motherboard three months ago deserves anything that befalls them.
That platform was phased out 6 months ago, and on its deathbed for 6 months before that!

<< The Matrox Parhelia-512 was released today in Beijing. It is quite impressive, but quite expensive >>

I don't know why people Poo-Pooh the G400 so much.....

With a fast CPU, the G400 performed about as well as a Geforce card in most games. The original Geforce.
GF1 = GF2MX = GF2MX400 for speed.

People don't slam the GF2MX for being a slow Peice o' crap (except for the hardcore gamers that absolutely MUST have a GF3-4!)
The G400 also had the best RENDERING QUALITY over any other card, as well as far richer colour than nVidia. In D3D it was simply tops.
I remember the comparisons... of course we're going back a couple years.

Well, what I want is a card that can play Q3A and newer games at 1600x1200 with at least 4XFSAA at >100FPS. Right now my new system with a GF4MX440 is giving me a taste of it, at 1024x768 with Quincunx FSAA at around 70FPS, but that still ain't enough

Yes, Quincux.... fast n' sloppy. Hope you enjoy looking at a game through a thin film of vaseline.
Use 4x mode instead. Slower but much nicer looking, not nearly as blurry.

and now lets wait 5 years untill games will start using any of the power of the upcoming cards

There are games right now that pull down even a GF4 Ti4600 in certain places. Try JK2 on the swamp levels at 1600 x 1200 x 32 with max details and full anisotropic filtering and watch it crawl. Then try the same thing on Undying in the snowy monastery levels and watch the same thing.

In fact most modern games struggle to run well at 1600 x 1200 x 32 with full anisotropic filtering on even the fastest video cards. As far as I'm concerned, none of today's cards have anywhere near the power that I'd like to have.

I have some friends who would argue that the wonderful ramp up in speed for the P4 seems kinda useless as they are Socket 423 users. ;(
Which has precisely what to with the fact that the P4 is mainly fast because of brute force? The socket argument is simply a strawman which has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at all.

Yuck, brute force arguments! I can't believe people use this argument to describe NVidia's 6-month product cycle. Jeez.

It's almost equally as stupid to use the brute force argument in regards to the Pentium 4's performance. I often wonder if the people who use brute force arguments are the same people that aren't sure whether they can download hardware from the Internet. LMAO.

[EDIT]... oops this post was empty.....
oh well i noticed that other people already mentioned morrowind. I didn't read the rest of the posts before responding. And you will probably read this before you read my actual post so everything works out.

Doom III should definitely be a good step in the direction of games taking advantage of new features and speed of these newfangled cards comming out. But just in case you didn't know, check out Bethesda's new game, Morrowind. I have an athlon 1400, with a geforce2mx, and it runs pretty slow in some parts. The graphics are really reallynice. I am actually upgrading to a geforce 4 4200 just for this game. The water supposedly looks really nice (nigh photorealistic) if you have a geforce 3 or 4 because it takes advantage of the pixel shading capabilities. I don't know what other games cause I don't play too much. But you should definitely check out Morrowind.
