I hope more companies break from the original reference heatsink design or we'll be seeing alot of the same cards..

Since they are saying 45 days until retail I am sure we will see announcements from them all, and hopefully some production reviews before then. The Leadtek is the only offering with non-reference cooling that I have seen. I hope we see some offerings that exhaust all of the heat out through the PCI slot.

ahh.. cool, thanks for the links.

that leadtek is something, eh? what is it tho, do they think it's a one slot design as long is it doesn't take up 2 case slots or something? that thing is huge!

cool... keep em coming if you see them..

unfortunately, so far the one's which actually show the product are all using reference cooling with the exception of leadtek. i'm hoping someone comes up with something unique. really don't like the stock cooling...

Leadtek always has the best IQ as well, you get what you pay for

well, IQ is pretty much the same across all of them since the gf3 days...

also, looks like the asus concept card is pretty much their final design, and uses reference cooling also

Albatron, AOpen, ASUS, Chaintech, Gainward, Gigabyte, Leadtek, MSI, Prolink, XFX

Albatron and Gainward appear to have the small reference design. Asus, Chaintech and XFX have the large reference design. The Leadtek and AOpen cards shown have a single power connector so I assume those are their non-ultra parts. The Prolink looks like it has some kind of monster design so we'll have to wait and see what the hell all of that is.

edit: The Leadtek shown is a Quadro.

yea, saw that.. frankly i'm disappointed we don't see any better cooling solutions... bout the only thing i hold out hope for is abit, who i haven't seen an announcement from. they had the OTES (which used heat pipes and vented outside the case) stuff on the nv3x... but unfortunately if they do i am sure it will carry a premium price

Why are all of these companies putting gigantic heatsinks on the cards but only a single-slot backplate? I can just imagine the stories of AGP slots separating from motherboards...

I want you to try right now, to rip off an AGP slot with your bare hand from any motherboard, and when your not able to, think about how
much more stress you can exert on it with your hand than a weighted video card.

why does the leadtek have a NIC built on with fiber optic connection? Is it just the prerelease board?

I noticed that as well. On my BFG Tech GeForce FX 5900, they used a single slot cooling solution (the same one as Chaintech, I beleive) which is fairly heavy, but a dual slot backplate - keeps the card nice a secure in the case. I hope BFG continues this on their 6-series cards.
