nvidia 23.11 drivers!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the nvidia 23.11 drivers, I have unfortunately managed to get into an "infinite loop", this is causing the computer to restart continuously before I have the chance to work around it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions????

it is a known issue with 23.11.

uninstall it from safe mode (tap on f8 while booting (or hold ctrl)).

use either earlier versions or later versions.

ive been using 23.12 (leaked) and it has been working fine.

Yes.

bstatham, simply uninstall the 23.11 drivers and install the 23.12 drivers from nVidia's web site. The only drivers that have consistently shown the infinite loop error are the 23.11 drivers, so get rid of them.

The error normally occurs under a Direct3D or OpenGL application, on systems using a GeForce 2 or GeForce 3 video card with WinXP and the Nvidia detonator drivers 23.11 or 21.83. There are reports, however, of the issue occurring under Win2K. There are also reports of this occurring with ATI video cards but this has not been confirmed by VIA.

I've run the 23.11, and most of the 27.xx and can't shake it. I'm going to try 23.12.

WHQL drivers are Windows Hardware Quality Labs certified drivers. They are drivers that are supported by nVidia and have been tested to work. WHQL drivers should be the most stable of all drivers, however you cannot get the newest versions of detonator drivers as WHQL ones because they take a few weeks to get verified. Basically they are the highest quality drivers.

yes, sometimes it happened when i was running openGL applications.

Oh that bites.. well, I had noticed a lot more Half-Life crashes in XP since I got the 23.11s. Lemme get those 23.12s now, thanks.

half-life is the only app that I really have had crash on XP... so much so that I suspect the problem is more likely in half-life or cstrike than in XP or Nvidia's drivers.

i noticed for some nvidia cards 23.12 shows up under windows update...for me even when i have 23.12 installed windows update keeps trying to get me to "upgrade" to the older 21.83s

I've tried all the Detonator 4 and even some of the 3 driver sets, still that little nagging problem...BUT, much moreso with my V5/PIII 750 setup...my GF2MX/700 Duron setup hardly ever flinches, but is still prone...

Basically, all chipsets/vidcards/processors, etc. are prone to the so-called "infinite loop" problem...one thing is for certain, 98% of the problem is experienced with XP users, the other 2% being mainly W2K (isolated "earlier" OS problems)...the prevelance seems to be more among nVidia cards, but a combination of VIA/nVidia/AMD stands out in particular....not to say nVidia cards are more prone, nor AMD processors or VIA chipsets, just that they are more common than their counterparts so they would naturally account for a higher percentage...when Microsoft will TELL us?...that's another story entirely... :disgust:

Version 27.30 - Multilanguage driver from Gainward
Version 27.50 Beta and the latest 27.51 Beta version, but no comment yet!
