NVIDIA 257.21 BSOD issue

Hello

I was running 197.45 driver, then i uninstalled it via Driver Sweep, the driver was not showing up in Add /Remove programs.

So i installed the latest 257.21 Driver. Everything installed fine, restarted the PC, recieved a BSOD just before the Windows XP Logo should have appeared.

  BENQ DVD DD DW1620
• Audio
  Realtek High Definition Audio

So i reverted back to 197 driver by restoring the system.

Is it time for new graphics card ?

Same problem with a 9500GT card on XP-32 bit.
Stay with the older 197.45 (XP - 32 bit) driver, until they offer something newer than the 257.21 version. I can also dual boot Windows 7 - 64 bit, and the 257.21 drivers work fine on that. Another machine runs Windows 7 - 32 bit, and the latest nVidia drivers also work fine on that machine.

After searching the forum, tried the advice of opening up the CPU and cleaning up the dust.

So i did just that this morning and here are the results

There is difinitely a huge improvement, especially with the GPU heat

your CPU idles at 48C? is it overclocked? what cooler are you using?

i think you should set your GPU fan up higher than 30%, as it contributes to the overall temperature in your case. i havent had an Nvidia card for some time so i dont remember if you can set it using the Nvidia Control Panel, but either way, RivaTuner always works.

i used to have the ExtremeTuner (http://www.galaxytech.com/ko-kr/XT/index.htm) it works with every Nvidia card.

set it as high as you can without the noise bothering you, or 100% if you dont mind the noise.

a fresh XP install might also solve your problem.

My card is not overclocked, though its summer time here and the outside temp goes upto 45C to 50C.


CPU cooler is ZALMAN CNPS 9700

Would using ExtremeTuner, have any negative effect on my system ? I cant seem to find the download link for Xtreme Tuner
