You can grab the 41.09's here (thanks Insidious). I'll give them a run tonight and post results.

I removed the link for the 41.04's because they were unstable at high speeds and had limited refresh rates.

On the 41.04's, seems as if the refresh rate is limited to 85 Hertz. I was able to select 100 @ 1600x1200 with the 40.72's

Are your monitor drivers installed? Sometimes you have to reinstall after the nvidia drivers. OS likes going back to plug and play drivers.

Yeah, I reinstalled Naviset after the 41.04's and it's showing my Diamond Pro 2070SB under the monitor tab. I bumped my card up a little too much and got some artifacts the second time I ran 3DMark2001SE so it's back to 315/730 now. The visual quality is great, but I really like running my refresh rate at 100 Hertz so I may go back to the 40.72's. All they need to do is up the refresh rates for the 41.04's and they'd be perfect.

The 40 series and above you can manually set the refresh rates in the registry. Here's the page showing the easier way to do it.

refresh fix It's hard to understand nvidia's explanation.
BTW 41.09 betas are linked on that website also.

anyone having trouble with overclocking with these new drivers using coolbits? it seems as though it has the range of 0-100, weird.

I'm using coolbits and didn't notice any setting changes for OC'ing. I did notice some system OC'ing instability though. Running 160 FSB, DDR426 wasn't as stable as with the 40.72's. UT2003 Bechmark crashed a couple of times, so that combined with the lower refresh rates sent me back to the 40.72's. Everythings's back to normal now. I'm definitely not as thrilled with them as I initially was.

Here' mine w/ 3DMark 2001 SE b300, used with Coolbits. Frequency slider maxed out at 315/560.

-----------------------Det 40.72 ----------- Det 41.04

250/446 (default) -----9116---------------- 9035
315/560-----------------9961----------------- 9814 >>>> I want to break the 10,000 barrier !!!!

Also tried PowerStrip up to 285/605 w/ benchmark but did not continue since the car chase images were not stable.

Strange my GF4 Ti4200 is now described as a %NVidia.Nv25.4% card under Display Properties, Settings and Sandra 2002. Since this is a Beta driver I'll roll back to 40.72. :frown:

Athlon XP 1800+, Windows XP SP1, BFG GF4 Ti4200 (128)
Tyan S2460 , 256mB ECC Registered (Crucial).

hm, I wonder if i should try these...

SCORPI0, if you weren't running ECC RAM, I bet you could break 10K. (ECC RAM IS SLOWER) but then again, your chipset likely requires it...but it is definitely not as fast. (also a problem is the chipset it self) I know the MPX chipsets for dual athlons are slower when running a single CPU app than a similar single CPU chipset like the KT266A.

i have an XP1800+ rig with a Via KT266A chipset that ran 11,400 with my MSI Ti4200 128MB.

Guys,
Help me understand something... I use LCD monitors in my setup. The highest refresh rate an LCD can support (to my limited knowledge) is 60 Hz. Am I missing out by leaving my tube monitor behind or are LCD's generally rated or thought of differently? I keep seeing everyone being worried about 100 Hz settings...

Thanks!

Hey Havok, the reason I like to use 100 Hertz on my CRT is due to the fact that I can actually see text fluttering (very, very slightly) at 1600x1200, 85 Hertz on my 20" v.i.s. Diamondtron. At 100 Hertz, it's not noticeable at all. I ran my Samsung 955DF 19" CRT at 85 Hertz and it was perfect, so maybe the larger screen area and resolution I have now is why I had to bump it up. It's just much easier on the eyes. LCD's usually have much sharper text and brighter images, so you should be fine at 60 Hertz.

Havok,

I'm not sure if most LCD's are limited to just 60hz or not. My Dell 2000fp supports a couple preset resolutions with refresh rates up to 75hz which is as high as I can go with preset resolutions. The LCD actually has a 1600x1200 preset mode but only at 60Hz. I notice a very slight change going from 60Hz to 75Hz, not as much as I would see on a CRT though.

Just picked up a cheap Ti 4200 this weekend and got to connect my DVI up for the first time, quite a big difference in video quality at least to my eyes.

Nvidia has the 41.09 Drivers up now.

I don't see anything about the Geforce4 only though..... You sure about that? (maybe that was just the 'leaked' version)

Anyway, will give'em a try when I get a chance.....

Thanks Insidious! I'll give the 41.09's a shot tonight. Hopefully they will have the higher refresh rates available and be more stable than the 41.04's.

Great news! I haven't had a chance to install them here... This just makes me all the more anxious.

(I have seen little performance difference on my machines with the last several 'official releases' because they have GF3s in them, but the GUI of the 40 series has been a nice improvement)

Here is my experience with the 41.09 after the first run on my rig (check if u want!)
D3D performance under 3DMark and UT2003 flyby demo is exactly the same
OpenGL performance is GREATLY improved!! Amazing difference of up to 17% in RTCW and 14% in Quake III since the update from the former 40.72s I used.
The control panel has also some nice improvements as well by using universal AA and anisotropic options for both APIs in a new single tab (aniso settings are not present anymore in OpenGL's tab)
Problem is that all help files are not ready for the driver languages supported (e.g Greek are supported but dragging the question mark over a setting shows the well known symbols for text...

P.S: Can someone explain me BTW how does the driver "understands" with a single dload from the primary site which language version to install? The OS can't be the answer since it installs me the Greek version which is right, while I use US WinXP .... How could I dload from NVidia the English driver version if I want to??

Hey dbal, sorry that I don't know the answer to your question about Greek/English drivers. I did want to say that my results are the same as yours. No real improvements in benchmark scores (3dMark2001SE or UT2003), but I would swear that I have noticed greatly improved image quality (like the 41.04's had). Stability seems to be ok and I can now select 100 Hertz for my monitor (unlike the 41.04's). The 41.09's seem like a winner to me. Maybe someone else will be able to answer your question about the Greek/English driver install. Good luck!
