Did anyone come up with a definitive solution to this problem?
I just bought an XPS 15Z believing it would drive the Dell 3008WFP at 2560X1600 just as the XPS M1730 that it is replacing does, but it does not seem to work.
I researched the GT525M before buying the machine and it supposedly supports the 2560 X1600 resolution. I also confirmed ith the sales staff that it would run an external monitor at this resolution.
But.... no matter what I have done so far, the highest resolution offerred is 1920X1200.
What I have tried so far....
Downloaded latest drivers for both monitor and card (monitor from Dell, Card from NVidia).
Connected via HDMI
Connected via MiniDisplay Port -> MiniDisplay Port To DVI cable (dual link) -> Monitor. (Not sure if this is "Active" or not. I don't know what that means)
Connected via MiniDisplay Port -> VGA Adapter -> Monitor.
Restting resolution via the windows resolution screens
Resetting the resolution via the NVidia control panel.
Setting a Custom Resolution in the NVidia control panel (it gives an error saying that the resolution 2560X1600 @ 60Hz is not supported by the monitor).
The only other connection option is MiniDisplay Port -> Display port, but I don't want to go out hunting for another cable given that I have already bought every cable known to man or beast witout getting a result.
I am lost and about to return the machine. The sales staff told me it would run the monitor no problem.
