Alright, since the charts don't list it, anyone know how the 6600 compares to a 9600XT? I'm trying to decide between those and they cost about the same.

I've got an ATI 9600XT in my HTPC & am getting this one to upgrade another rig of mine.

It's replacing a TI4200 64MB.

I don't have a benchmark for ya but I'm willing to bet that the 6600 vanilla will outperform the 9600XT.

I really hope nobody has bought either of these 2 cards!!!

There is a reason they are much cheaper than they should be. Zipzoomfly does a horrible job in representing these cards.

They are not regular 6600 AGP cards, they are 64-BIT memory, not 128-BIT!!!

Here's the link for the Chaintech version on Newegg's site that actually says that the SA6600 model is a 64-bit memory bus.........YUCK!

Chaintech has different specs shown:

8.8 GB/sec memory bandwidth (550 Mhz, 128bit)

8.0 GB/sec memory bandwidth (500 Mhz, 128bit)

3.2 GB/sec memory bandwidth (400 Mhz, 64bit)

Instead of listing all three (550/500/400 MHz Memory Clock)
ZipZoomFly needs to specify which one this model is.

If it's like the Asus,
the 500mhz is the 256mb card.
This one is either 550 or 400.

Remember, if people start off talking about AGP cards (see the thread title), you should assume that the card they need is an AGP. Maybe people can get a 6600gt in PCI for $140 or $150, but that's worthless to someone who needs an AGP card. (Cheapest I've seen in AGP is $189 shipped.)

Some people seem to enjoy posting the PCI-E prices, almost as though they're taunting those using boards with AGP slots.

i got the ATI 9600XT for only $130 at BB they had it on sale last week.. i was about to take it back and get that 6600 though cuz i wasnt sure which was better there were no reviews with those two cards that i could find!

I jumped on that asus 6600 from zipzoomfly. It arrived today but it is defective. No video when starting windows with plain old vanilla drivers, plus the video card they shipped me was obviously a previous return.......

I sure hope I can get my money back.

No retailer should be giving you a previously returned opened card without disclosing it as such. Tsk tsk!
