*** NVIDIA 8800GT OVERCLOCK ***

Finally got around to ocing my EVGA SC. Looks promising even on the stock cooler. I got it up to 771/1836/1900 before I started to see a few yellow artifacts on ATI Tool. Temps were ~72C with the fan at 60%. I didn't push the shaders yet as I'm waiting for my Accelero S1 to get here. I'll add more results after I get that installed.

It was stable at ~760/1836/1900. I ran it at 770/1836/1900 and got a few artifacts. I'll post more results once I slap the S1 on it.

okay....it looks like the 8800GT has a working BIOS voltage mod. I upped the voltage to 1.2 and it's now up to 756/1836/2000. Shaders are 100% stable in ATItool the core isn't but passes 3DMark06. With some luck I'll have the vmod done this weekend.

I don't know if the BIOS mod will work with EVGA SC and up but I am curious if it will work if some of you are willing to try it. You can read off the voltages through NBitor without affecting the BIOS. The EVGA's may have the higher voltage already as the results for them so far is what my reference XFX OC's to now. If they are the same, some of you at 750+ will get 800+ after the mod.

How did you raise the voltage? Highest option for me is 1.1V?

Add the Thermalright V2 to your cooler list. Fits perfectly with no mods. It takes longer to clean the chips than to install it. It's $32 at Sidewinder computers.

Make sure the links are to NBitor v.3.5a and NVFlash v.5.57. Earlier versions don't support the 8800GT.

Alright, I'm pretty new to overclocking, but I managed to get the 8800GT to 702 core/999 memory. It idles around 58 and loads around 85. Fan speed varies according to my fan settings, but in the most part the card is quiet.

What are "ideal" idle and load temps for this card, I'm more looking towards what temperature can start to become worrying for this card, 100 degrees, maybe?

Also, I've seen people OC their memory to 2000, how's the temperatures on that? I've heard somewhere the memory for the 8800GT is rated for 1000, which is why I don't top it in overclocking.

an eVGA tech over on their site said the GT is able to run at temps over 100C. Personally I dont think I'd run it over 100 though... but i think anything under that is fine.

I'm moving my computer to a more open and cooler part of the house tomorrow(also known as the basement) and down there I should get MUCH lower ambient temps and a larger room to vent hot air into...so hopefully it'll drop my temps some. Then I'm going to push higher. I'm at 700/1000 at the moment. Hoping for at least 725/1025 with the stock.

here is the bizzare thing... i had to disable driver checking to install it, but artifact checking doesnt work... if i reboot with driver checking on (after its been installed) the app warns me about the kernal mode driver not being loaded but the artifact checking actually works! its crazy... the bad part though i that i cant use rivatuner with driver signing turned on cause it also needs an unsigned kernal mode driver...

Yep - disable driver signing to run it also - then you are good to go.

geez must be nice... i just tried 783 with my stock cooler.. gets up to about 83C max... but started crashing out of COD4... 777 seems stable so far... i only have the shaders up to 1833 but i havent really tried to work them higher yet... i cant imagine 49C @ load... im looking at 60C idle right now rofl....

I have a hard time believing anyone is seeing 49C load even if they are using an after market hsf. My BFG idles at 61C, and I even removed the factory applied glob of thermal compound on the core and put a thin layer of Ceramique.
