Core to 720.

Shader to ???? then Memory.

Im sitting at 97-98C @ 60% Fan but my exhaust fan has just buggered up on me. Should shave a few degrees on that when i get it back up and running.

ATI Tool tested it fine for 10 whole hours at that speed.

Dont think so.

Funnily enough, 30 minutes of Hellgate London takes me up to 78C. 30 minutes of ATI Tool and my temps nearly hit boiling.

Before I added an aftermarket cooler my card would hit 105C+ in crysis and appeared to be totally stable. By stable i mean it never crashed or lagged when running at those temps, these things can take some serious heat!

I'd say 1800 for the shader before you start seeing diminishing returns.

I can't seem to get my pair of EVGA SCs past 675core/1750 shader/1950 MEM without ATI-tool's tester showing artifacts.

just ran across this thread thanks to another AT'er. I must have missed it.

Anyway, I have looked at thew guru3d guide but it uses a different card. I will look through this thread over the next day or so but if anyone can help narrow down some fan speed settings for riva tuner and some safe overclocks I would be thankful.

Are you guys posting core/memory/shader or core/shader/memory? I'm confused.

Also about ATI Tool, can I run other stress test at the same time?

Like the rthdribl benchmark and Nvidia stress test, all 3 would be more than enough or is that not recommended and should I stick with one program at a time?

HMM what to do when you've OC'ed your 8800gt a little bit too much via rivatuner and 3dmark06 freezes and PC doesn't boot up anymore?

Doesn't boot at all (as in no post)? Try a spare video card. Doesn't boot to Windows? Try safe mode.

Best Underclock?

I have set a mode to underclock with a low fan speed and one for gaming with an overclock and a high speed using Riva Tuner.

What is the best underclock people have achieved? I want to run at 25% fan speed and keep the idle temps reasonable. I am interested to know what kind of underclocks have been achieved.

i think my core capped out at 720 with the shaders linked. The memory is at 920 right now and i'll try to push it a little more.

With the stock cooler set to 50% it runs at 55C load.

Ok i dont get it, i used rivatuner to overclock my 8800gt but under hardware monitoring all of my clocks are at stock speeds. And i see no increse in either 3dmark or crysis. Am i doing something wrong?

Core: 733
Shader: 1806
Mem: 1900
Cooling: Thermaltake DuOrb, Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Paste
Temps: 38C idle, 46C load, mem and ambient temps at load are 38C
If I push the core or shaders one notch further, ATiTool and Crysis start artifacting like mad. But at these settings, ATiTool stays artifact free for the 20 minutes I run it, and Crysis gets through the 10 iterations of the GPU benchmark that I run on Very High. I haven't fiddled with the memory since I can't see a noticeable increase in performance with it and I don' want to eff up my GT, since JohnnyGuru says the interface can't handle da heata.

Well I dont know if I trust JohnnyGuru. My memory can handle 1050, or 2100mhz. And thats running ATITool and Crysis to stress the crap out of it. I've been running my memory at 1025 since I got the card

I never manage to get a hold of a 8800GT (G92) so I bought a 8800GTS (G92) instead.

I had fun playing with it and made some comparisons. The GTS is suppose to be little faster with its 128 shader processors instead of 112. Cording to the reviews that I have read its not much of a difference.

But there are other differences. 3 phase power, better cooling and I think Nvidia has modified the voltage on the card. My overclock results are almost identical to 8800GT cards that has been Volt moded.

I modified my GTS speed to match the Vanilla GT. Here are some comparisons:

Intel E4300 @ 3300mhz

EVGA 8800GTS Max OC @811/1949/2002 = 12133 3dmark06

EVGA 8800GTS Default @670/1674/1944 = 11603 3dmark06

EVGA 8800GT Default @600/1500/1800 = 11052 3dmark06

I also ran the same tests at

E4300 default speed 1800mhz.

EVGA 8800GTS Max OC @811/1949/2002 = 7788 3dmark06

EVGA 8800GTS Default @670/1674/1944 = 7610 3dmark06

EVGA 8800GT Default @600/1500/1800 = 7531 3dmark06

- As you can see there is not much difference from the slowest clocked 8800GT to a maxed out 8800GTS.

- The CPU speed makes a huge difference.

- If you are planning on buying a 8800GT volt mod and swap the fan, then you might be better of buying a 8800GTS card to begin with.

- If you are not going to vmod or swap out the heatsink then the cheapest 8800GT card will do great. Lots of performance small price tag

Meh, I think I'm getting artifacts because I need more voltage. I don't know how much I want to do a volt mod.

I just got my eVGA superclocked.. Its not a very good overclocker. I can only get like 675/1675/1000 stable before artifacts show up in atitool

I've ran 700/1728/1000 in 3dmark and crysis and i Didn't see any artifacts but ati tool is detecting them. Anythoughts?

I have the new cooler w/ the fan at 100% ~ 62-64 full load in crysis w/ the 700/1728/1000 oc

I got 14361 in 3dmark06 w/ xp though (700/1728/1000)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=4246717

Intel q6600 @ 3.2

edit: what do you use for artifact settings? I have the slider all the way to the left. I put it where it was when I first installed it and its running for 10 minutes now no errors at my 700oc

try backing down the memory clock to stock and see how high the core and shader will go.
