Is this some sort of joke? According to the article, the RTX 2060 will be $300, and the RTX 2060 Super will be $400, slotting in ABOVE the 3060 at $329.
It should be noted that the 3060 is produced at TSMC, or was, and the 3060 at Samsung. Are yields that bad at Samsung?
For second there I was like, woah, 3060 at TSMC? Like 7nm? Then I realized you meant 2060 and was disappointed. It doesn't have anything to do with yields, I don't think - just that there is a likely a lot 12nm TSMC capacity and they just hit the "reorder" button on a proven card and integration system. There was no need to do any silicon work at all.
If they had done a die shrink of Turing to something like TSMC 7nm or anything interesting it would be news.
Heck, 2060S @ $300? I mean, yeah, that's at least something.
But to "relaunch" them by really just filling the channel again? :/ Probably looking all these 1660 cards they're still selling and turned it up again.
I wanted to start a thread on this separate, different take - RDNA2 on the best 12nm GloFo has to offer? I mean, something feature complete and newer than Polaris to sell?
