As per ATI's site, the shipping version will be clocked at 520/560. BTW, you're deluding yourselves if you think ATI doesn't do the same thing internally.

To me, that's precisely why SM 3.0 is not important right now if you're buying a high end card. I'll wait until it's actually useful.

Actually bashing the competition is highly unethical. I would'nt want to work for a company that resorts to such tactics. It's probablly not good for moral either especially when your still slower and the "troops" know it too.

Wow Nvidia now has to launch a smear compaign to try to get people to buy their product. You realize that smear campaigns are usually the signs of a company in trouble. Signs of a company that doesn't know how to design and market a superior product to their competitors. This is a sad day for the Graphics Card industry. Nvidia is close to bowing down to ATI and admitting defeat.

ATI should counter with a special issue of Office Space. Plaster Nvidia, its' logo, and change the dialogue so that its' Nvidia where everyone is working.

I'm beginning to think not, the CORE of the 6800 series seems to have enormous potential. The newer drivers could do quite a bit with the 6800.

Haha. I think what Nvidia is doing falls under the Desperate times calls for desperate measures theme. I have been to Intel conferences many times and never once did I ever see them mention an AMD product much less bash one. Bashing a competitor to make your product look better is never a good marketing campaign. Just show what makes your product great and don't even mention the competitor. Well guess it don't really matter. I am happy with my ATI card anyhow.

That just causes some of us to discount anything else you say as bias by making a statement like that. BTW, smear campaigns have been used with great effect for as long as there's been competition in business, so I couldn't disagree more strongly with your assertion that they are bad marketing.
