1000ms/s divided by 37FPS = 27ms/frame, then times 4 because 3 inserted frames + 1 rendered frame is a theoretical 108ms latency.
The added latency is a partial sum of a rendered frame + generated frames, assuming the card can generate the inserted frames much faster than it can render another full frame. All of this is offset by the rest of the system latency and also Reflex. If Reflex is not available to enable independently of DLSS/FG, then the comparison can be made to seem much more favorable for frame generation in terms of latency cost.

Here's some screenshots for FPS+latency from the DF video so you can see the scaling, though keep in mind the latency numbers fluctuate quite a bit. A screenshot with equal numbers for 3x MFG and 4X MFG does not mean the 4th generated frame adds zero latency.

Nvidia says they are adjusting clock speed at much higher rate, it will fluctuate even within a frame now.
It's funny that this approach is similar to the AMD's CPU clock management, but for GPU they aim for the opposite, prioritizing clock stability over voltage.

So I just wasted 10 minutes at Tech Power Up and my largest amusement were the people angry at AMD for "letting" this happen in the comments section. LMAO..

TPU also thinking AMD will be done making GPUs in two years. Great conclusion on the 5080 review, I concur.

Not like AMD won't be making the APUs forever, Instinct and consoles?

Also, the way AMD is handling Radeon lately makes me wonder if their discrete GPU brand will still be around in two or three years (c)

Not happening.

Crazy people

What is interesting there no HU review video in NV subreddit...

I was reading somewhere, that there is no demand...

Unfortunately we have moved beyond FOMO, to "Need early gear to show off on social media", but that doesn't have a catchy acrocym: NEGTSOOSM?

It doesn't matter if it's any good anymore. Just as long as it's new and can be talked about for 10 minutes.

If we're just stealing commentary from the TPU forums I like this one:

This is the also the FIRST x80 generation ever where the new generation x80 card failed to dethrone the previous flagship (x80TI/x90).

GTX 980 was 11% faster than the GTX 780TI
GTX 1080 was 31% faster than the GTX 980TI
GTX 2080 was 9% faster than the GTX 1080TI
RTX 3080 was 36% faster than the RTX 2080TI
RTX 4080 was 30% faster than the RTX 3090
RTX 5080 is 11.4% slower than the RTX 4090

Truly pathetic NVIDIA.

- The true insidiousness of RGB everything is PC building going from nerds building beige boxes in their mom's basement to to influences showing of their bling boxes on insta.

PC building is a lifestyle thing for a lot of people, and when any hobby becomes a lifestyle, brains go out the window.

Not that many surprisingly. Even they admitted that it has limited use, i.e on Alan Wake 2 with 4x MFG 5080 was hitting 100ms latency at 140 FPS.

Seems a bit high, reminds me of this example of what NOT to do. Never use FG with vsync:

W1zzard is a troglodyte. As is Jarred. "Driver issues in games and apps". Less than 10% faster than a 4080 Super? Still 3.5 stars!

The return of LaserDisc: Dragon's Lair 2025 edition!

TPU made the mistake of comparing to the 7900XTX.
Since it made the 7900XTX look good, they shat on it in the conclusion to painfully justify their "highly recommended because from nvidia" award.
"yada yada not from nvidia yada yada would never put money on amd crap"

🙃
Is W1zzard's shilling now trying to compete with DF's?

Certainly guaranteed to continue to get favourable access to Nvidia stuff.

Or maybe a shareholder. Although after reading at least some of the sponsored "put down DeepSeek, and praise Nvidia" articles ComputerBase put out today, I begin to think that the media is very easily bought.

TPU Edition!
Only available to those who shill enough in the TPU comments!

this is the worst gen ever. Look I get past ones might have been hot or whatever but providing no uplifts after 2 years makes you incompetent. This makes CPU uplifts look sane.

They totally regressed and they chose GDDR7 to hide this.
sometimes, new microarches go wrong.

The 5070Ti looks like it still has a chance to look better relative to Ada. It may actually make the 5080 look bad by comparison.

If they cut it above the 4070Ti, especially in terms of LLC. But they probably will cut it hard enough for the 5080 to shine... so 4070Ti + 5-10% with a sharp fall off at 4K?

I couldn't believe the 4K focus in all these 5080 reviews. SMH.

No new product is bad.

It actually did improve, just missed on fmax.
Client Blackwell is ???.

Bunk. That has the same flaw as the "There are no bad products, only bad prices". If a prodcut lights on fire, it is bad. If there were no bad prodcuts, there would be no recalls.

The 5070Ti looks like it still has a chance to look better relative to Ada. It may actually make the 5080 look bad by comparison.

I have said this for weeks now. The only worthwhile Blackwell products were the 5090 and 5070 Ti. The 5080 will perform better but not by a whole lot. And it will be limited by the same amount of VRAM.
