Data center Blackwell is limited by HBM and packaging. TSMC can produce more than that for Nvidia and GB202 uses simpler, less supply constrained packaging and simpler VRAM. The allocation at TSMC's 4/5nm lines should not be a problem.

And some GB202 variants will be selling for $8000+.

Regardless of your theorycrafting, the Blackwell consumer GPUs are in very short supply. So apparently NVidia can't get all the GPU chips they want.

Apparently this extends to Laptops as well, so it isn't some kind of bizarre FOMO move that NVidia is stocking for discrete GPU buyers like some conspiracy minded people are claiming.

I'm talking for the year. There's almost no chance there will be enough HBM available in 2025 for Nvidia to have the presumed much higher DC GPU allocation, only for the initial ramp. It's a temporary problem that I think will be solved by a bit of patience. But current sold prices on eBay suggests gamers are a bit lacking in that.

- Ebay prices are flat out stupid right now, basically new prices from a month ago, except that the card is ~2 years old or more. Older cards getting pitched for their new part performance equivalent price.

Everything with two dozen watchers and half a dozen people in cart.

What a mess.

Considering buying decent deals near me on FB marketplace like I did during Covid so I have a couple cards for builds for family & friends later. Silly.

@Heartbreaker - yes, a scalper lottery, usually either the cards are overpriced or stuck with a $900 motherboard or monitor as a "bundle":

For non-USA folks, know that here in the state of MN I would be paying an additional ~7.5% sales tax + shipping once I took them up on their generous offer.

The attitude is that Nvidia doesn't care about gamers, but wasn't the 40 super series actually a decent upgrade with decent availability? I think a ton of people bought 4070ti supers and especially 4070 supers at msrp or near msrp. I think we won't know how the 50 series will be remembered until about a year or two from now when some cards are available to purchase near msrp. Let's sit tight and wait another 18 months or so to see how things look after some cards make their way onto store shelves.

lol, we can't criticize the prices for a year and a half? I guess it's about time to discuss the 4070 super. Can't discuss the 4080 super yet though, it hasn't been 18 months.

On a more serious note. The 40 "super" midgen refresh was decent. It was a bigger increase in perf/dollar than the original 40 series was over the 30 series iirc. But that doesn't excuse how bad they were at launch. A refresh in 12 months doesn't help the people who want or need a card right now.

Some scalper offered me 5070 ti for 1330e... I hope ppl start to reject upgrading and those prices in total against NV, this is all planned by NV
It’s not planned like a villain with an evil plan but there is so much demand for these cards.

Frankly? Why? This is the worst uplift ever and efficiency got worse

I can speak for the 4070 super, I got the Inno 3D for $949 AUD around July last year and the store I brought it doesn’t stock this model anymore but other models are around the same price.

Overall the Super is very efficient and I think the 5070 will regress in efficiency with its rated TDP of 250w whereas the 4070 super is 220

And I think RT will be worse than the 4070S.

Also RTX 50 series dropped 32-bit cuda support, so if you need that skip the 50 and get a 40 super if it’s in stock.

You're describing an abusive relationship. One day you get candles and the perfect dinner, next day your wallet is missing... again. Every time the abuse goes up a notch. "I'll never do it again, please believe me, I love you so much I could die. I just need $2000 to finish this project. This is the last one, I promise."

One week later you find your wallet in front of the porch. It's empty, save for your ID card and an old love letter from the times you were happy together:
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics cards, including the NVIDIA Founders Edition, will be available worldwide — across 238 countries and territories — from NVIDIA GeForce partners, including ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, iGame, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac, starting March 10th at 10am. Prices, including those for the NVIDIA Founders Edition, start at $699.

Well, you know, I just think we can be level-headed on this one and resist the urge to rush to judgement regarding how this generation actually pans out. These things tend to start off kind of rocky and they usually end up working out well for most gamers. I have no reason to think the 50 series will be any different. People were a little skeptical about the 40 series at first, but after about that 18 month mark or so it seems like opinions of the series started to look more favorable. I think we might be in for a pleasant surprise with the 50 series if we can just have a little patience, and again, that's around that 18-24 month mark when they start to make their way into some of the retail channels, but these things are complex and do take some time so let's just try to be a little more mature and understanding right now.

I'm going to criticize the 4000 series refresh. The Super variants all put the price and/or performance where the vanilla versions should have been in the first place. Seems like the same game plan here with the 5000 series.

Public opinion of the 40 series was a more favorable after 18 months because the prices dropped. But I think most people still say it was bad at launch.
