Ehhh, so about a 10% gain in performance with an OC, which is on par with GPU OCs in general.
Generally 4070 Ti Super doesn't overclock very much and all the 5070 Tis seem to be pretty consistent. For $50 less you get about 15-20% overall better performance when you consider OCing both cards. Perhaps not a generational uplift, but definitely in the realm of being able to enable to either upgrade visual settings or get higher framerates for 7% less money.

Are you using MSRP or real prices?

I think this is the equivalent of nvidia launching the 4070 Super (5070 Ti) and 4070 Ti (5080) at the same time. At MSRP, the 5070 Ti is a no-brainer vs the 5080 imo.

It's not making sense to me, they are so tightly grouped and then this huuuuuge jump.
People complained the 3090 was too close to the 3080 in performance but priced way higher. Now Nvidia gives a huge performance boost for the 90 series but charges even more for it now. There are 90 buyers, then there are kids who wish they were real gamers who get stuck with all the crappy cards below the 90 class. Just shut up and give Nvidia $3000.

They've been gutting the 80 series compared to the 90 series for two generations now.

Meh, if you can find it at $750, it's a good enough bump up at stock, and with overclocking it's almost a real generational leap in performance.

Also, this seems reasonable, not glowing? This would be my assessment, but again, only at $750. At $900+, forget about it.

"If you're still using something like a 3070 Ti or 2070 Super, the 5070 Ti should offer a pretty massive improvement in performance. Is it enough to get people to upgrade? For some, we're sure the answer will be yes, but if you're already sporting something like an RTX 4070 Ti Super or even an RTX 4070, this will likely be an easy generation to sit out."
In other words they said exactly what their nvidia rep told them to say. lol

I can already imagine what they'll write for the 6070 Ti:

Those of us observant enough saw this behavior start with Kepler. It has gotten worse since then because now gamers are no longer the main customer of Nvidia, and I think it took the 50 series release for a large number of people to understand this. Nvidia is no longer trying hard to earn our business and dollars like they used to. Things are clearly different now and it's not just a temporary stock issue or shortage or inflation or whatever. The change in their behavior toward the gaming market has become very clear now and many people can't ignore it. Many people now understand:

Nvidia shifts the product stack up to charge more per item.
Nvidia charges more across the board despite shifting the stack.
Nvidia caters to AI customers and neglects the entire gaming market.

They will absolutely neglect the gaming market and let it die or be transformed with so much money being made from AI products. We might have to get used to this.

This is the only part I disagree with, at least somewhat. I think Jensen is too smart to put all his eggs in one basket, even with AI being as profitable as it is. I think he knows it could be a bubble that bursts at some point and doesn't want to completely abandon the gaming side. Jensen/NV are always thinking about the future and that includes being diversified in the markets they address and constantly looking for the next big thing and trying to be at the forefront of it. For example, see their latest investments into robotics and quantum computing. Unless they get a major revenue coming from a few different long term categories (i.e., if robotics takes off along with AI), I see them continuing to try, at least to some significant degree, to be the PC gaming leader.

I agree that Jensen will keep an eye on the gaming market in the same way that a predator keeps an eye on their large kill as it lay dead on the floor, ensuring no competitor comes to take it. I doubt he will give gaming more attention or energy than that.

Best Buy Canada dropped 100 units of the base PNY at $1090 (US$770) and 240 units of the TUF at $1449 (US$1020) which is the same price as they have the 5080 FE. Very limited of any other SKU. Everything sold out in under a minute other than the TUF which lasted 5 or so.

Much better $/perf than 5080*.
* - If found at MSRP.
And with the fact that the 5080 results in there are using an older driver with lower performance, so much that the 5070 Ti actually surpasses the 5080 in framegen results.

Techpowerup's review hinges on ridiculous levels of weird positivity over the 5070 Ti. Not only does W1zzard get somehow better FPS than everyone else, he also refers to the fake MSRP as a "controversy" (as if it wasn't easily observable), scores the card according to the $750 price and then puts an Editor Recommendation stamp on it at the end.

It's not a great review to judge the card, to be honest.

Because TPU has such large and easy to reference charts with lots of different generations you know that at the launch of the 7000 series TPU's numbers and the $750 MSRP are going to be brought up and no one will remember what they actually sold for.
