Tested a 5080 Laptop at 150+25 W. This one comes with a 275HX and has about the same performance as the Razer with the 5090.

What's weird is they tested it at comparable PPW and the 5080 and 5090 Laptop look good there compared to the 40 Series. But that's in Time Spy, it's not showing up in games.

To bad I don't like sausage. Now if it was bacon, different story.
While this thread concerns Blackwell; to me the cool part is that he did hard restaurant work and understands what it is like for regular people. Unlike so many rich folk that have never rode on the struggle bus with the rest of us.

This generation feels like an afterthought for gamers. Nothing about the breakfast bytes invokes gaming. Perhaps will get Nvidia logo marshmallows in Lucky Charms next?

Drivers are the worst, based on complaints, that I can remember. By the time they remember the gamers that built this company, they may find many have happily moved to AMD and Intel. And are in no hurry to come back.

Yup good for him. My first job was at a grocery store. Not Publix. Not from Florida. I wish it was Publix though.

he litterally doesn't care anymore about gamers and honestly i dont blame them.

Nvidia makes a ton on the AI right now, and thats where they are deep rooted right now.
Why give cards to whiney gamers who complain ever driver release saying X is broken now, when they can just offset in bulk to data centers who just dont care about geforce drivers. Usually they dont even care about drivers, as everything is hard coded, and only require the initial to get it working.

They dont need to worry about AIB's as well, they can profit direct, with the exception of PNY because i believe PNY is a AIB to nvidia enterprise, as they did make a lot of the RTX enterprise cards as well as Quadro.

The only thing we can do is just not buy nvidia, but they wont care because the data centers will buy them.
So the only other recourse we can do is just not buy their stocks, but again, who wants to lose money out of principle?

I really hope someone comes out with a new super AI chip, that will blow nvidia away, and make them lose tons of sales.
But again, highly unlikely, unless a fallen UFO somehow magically gets captured, and we somehow reverse engineer alien tech.
But even then, i think it would be in DARPA's hands more then consumers, because of political reasons.

Im just gonna wait and wait for the FE 5090 or PNY 5090...
Scalpers can not hold out forever, and these cards are expensive.
Once u start missing rent payments, and car payments because u spent it on a video card, they stop buying.

I will see how much the pro 6000 series is just for giggles, but there is no way im getting one.

I think I saw somewhere the top model (the 600 W 96 GB one) is $8500 or so.

bah... i think id be looking at the floor model one... Even 48GB with 10% more cores if priced right would attract gamers.

And i am wondering if they will lock geforce drivers on it and keep it a straight workstation card.

Historically nVidia has not done that. You even get the gaming optimizations. They just don't do the reverse, that's just what you are paying for. And ECC if it's included.

I believe the 48 GB (GB203, so like 5080) is like 4 grand.

Maybe if you went on a trip to China
i pretty sure they are on banned list so china wont be getting any.
They are probably getting a 5090D and somehow modding them to bypass the trade sanctions on AI chips.

I don't think it is about caring; the only duty is to make as much money as possible for the company and its shareholders. I get it. But there is an old adage - Ride the horse that brought you. Gamers made the present success possible, it is a mistake to make them feel like second class customers. They did it during the last crypto boom and it didn't sit well with many gamers. Then, just when gamers settled back into normality, the AI boom hits. And what does Nvidia do? Leave them hanging again. Only this time the "Let them eat cake" attitude could not be more obvious. Nvidia producing bad drivers speaks volumes to their present focus as a company.

Nvidia has always been teflon when it comes to bad press. Nothing ever sticks. There is another company that was always like that, Intel. Their present plight should be a cautionary tale of what hubris, neglect, and taking for granted, gamers, can get you. Obviously other factors are always involved, but PC gaming is a huge market, and growing, as more new gamers and console gamers join the PCMR ever day. Do us dirty at your own peril.

Blackwell, more like Willnotagewell. They need to remember their roots that made them strong, or the tree may start to wither and die.

They get smuggled everything all the time from the countries around them. Jensen may even have a complicated network of offshore companies to enable Nvidia to get the most billions from China since who else is so desperate to be No.1 in the world than the Chinese? Not the Russians. They are broke.

Yeah. I literally don't even feel like searching for Nvidia cards on online stores. No point. The best you can get is MSRP if you happen to be very, very lucky. There's no real deal to be had, not even on older gen cards.

5080 laptop = 4090 laptop
5090 laptop = ~20% faster @ same tdp but only on benchmarks, not on games

snatch a used 7945hx + 4090 laptop at best price

All can be forgiven as long as you're the best. Intel similarly got away with all of their problems or less savory tactics as long as the had the best part money could buy. Clearly anyone who complained about them was just some jealous whiner upset that they didn't have similarly magnificent performance.

All of that goes away when you aren't winning though. People aren't as quick to defend Intel these days, lest they find themselves being accused of being an envious lout that wishes they could hang with the real top performer on the CPU market.

Blackwell, more like Willnotagewell. They need to remember their roots that made them strong, or the tree may start to wither and die.

It doesn't matter as much as you think. NVidia can ignore them, treat them like crud, and give them no reason to ever come back let alone stick around in the first place. But as long as they have that top product those people will always come crawling back no matter what they might have said.

Nvidia could stop making GPU's today and they would do just fantastic. The entire PC gaming market would collapse overnight.

AMD offers nothing of note, and Intel is not really going anywhere.

I'm honestly amazed the PC gaming market has continued to grow despite all the setbacks.

What? Intel and AMD would buy more fab capacity to fill the void. Their cards would be FAR more DirectX and Vulkan compliant than anything Nvidia has ever put out. It would be the end of monopolistic features meant only for tech demos. I really, really want to see Nvidia take a break from the gaming market.
