CPU limitations can be pretty painful and obvious even with the 4090, what do you expect with the 5090?

In several games, I notice occasional large dips in FPS in certain maps and certain situations with lots of NPC's, movement, geometry, etc. These are indeed just occasional, but watching CPU and GPU graphs on a second screen shows that GPU usage dips heavily in those situations implying CPU limitation, even though 95% of the game is just fine. Say from a typical 90-120fps to 50-70fps when the CPU has to do heavy work. I can live with it but I still find it annoying and the faster the GPU is, the more you notice it. I can imagine this could become a new trend for gamers to (rightfully or not) complain about if (when?) we get to experience it more pronounced.

Maybe DLSS 4 FG inserts 2 interpolated frames between real frames instead of DLSS 3 FG's 1...

Local MC is basically bled dry of all GPUs but especially of nvidia. For 4xxx cards there is one white 8GB 4060Ti available at a solid premium.

It seems weird given how I don't think we'll see the low end refresh any time soon?

If I was around this weekend I'd try harder to dump some stuff on Marketplace but I am not - so waiting it is.

I had to upgrade from overclocked 9900K to 7800X3D to fully load 4090 in 4k res in somewhat older games that love single thread perf (ie Far Cry), would not be surprised if 5090 need 9800X3D! Newer DX12 games however a lot better about using multiple cores, ie - Avatar, so things not too dire, other than Unreal Engine 5 games that seem to have CPU problem still (at least initial versions that now come out in shipping games)

There are 5x 4060 Ti 8GB and 1x 4060 remaining at my local MC. And yes, it's totally weird. Maybe possible tariffs incoming + Christmas money burning a hole in some pockets is all I can figure?!

Also, I guess I'm part of the problem with my open box find. Nice upgrade for an older system coming from a GTX 1660 ti.

I hope this does not mean 2x of those fire-hazard happy connectors instead of one on 5090. Depending on the price i would like to replace one of my 4090s for 5090. While i have 1,6kW Seasonic PSU, it only had 2 of those cables, that are 2x 8 pin at PSUs end, and 16pin on GPU end. Could i just buy another one, if needed? I think there are additional unused 8-pin on the PSU.

it is and most will burn if 600W used for more then hour or so........
those specification is made by idiots and only sheep can use 600W from this shit

You have that backwards, the spec is fine, and it only burns for idiots who can't properly plug in a cable.

I defo will not buy 5090 if it use 570W with one 12+4 pin shit, only insane sheeps will, 5080 is ok with it
even my 4090 are limited to some 380w PL

I expect at least one AIB with brain to mod it, rest can all burn in with disaster they make
I’m waiting for the 18GB 5070 super. This current release isn’t worth it with gimped VRAM too.

I’ll wait for the new software to mature too.

Uh, is that you Tech Jesus from like 1-2 years ago who said the problem was cable insertion issues. The problem where to be sure you needed a flashlight and magnifying glass to make sure the connector was flush. Yet even if it was, some cables still burned up because the spec or design or quality was bad? But you know, totally the fault of people not plugging in the cable all the way.

Even Tech Jesus walked that one back last year.

it's not fine PCI-SIG literally had to amend the POS.
But "we're gonna pump a zillion amps over tiny ass pins on a microscopic connector" is truly one for the road.
They could've just opted for 48V rails but noooo.

I guess 48v would be gr8 for today PC heaters, but they first must burn down few houses to learn to use brain maybe lost few billion in court cases is next, let's wait and see
