Far cry 6 scales like piss.



The difference in performance between a RTX 4090 vs 3090 in Far Cry 6 was only 40% at 4k with ray tracing. So a 30% increase in performance in a game that scales poorly with an even more powerful GPU should not be a surprise.

Scales fine as long as you've got fast CPU and running 4k - in my 4090 and 7800x3d equivalent it is GPU limited, looking at CPU it could have easily done 50-60% more, as long as GPU could manage it, but clearly 5090 can't hack it that good.

Can't wait to hear how MLID explains away that 5090 isn't 50-60-70% faster in proper non-fake frame stuff

Never mind the fake-frames Nvidia actually has quite some interesting tech this gen.


Reflex 2 is actually some asynchronous re projection that warps the frame with updated mouse input just before render (something similar to what's done in VR)

Transformer based DLSS looks to really improve on the "blurryness" issues (just look at the Horizno comparison)

Neural rendering is also quite interesting and Nvidia will certainly be pushing it hard:

Mega Geometry sounds very good too - might finally make Unreal Engine 5 faster, but will take years for new games to support it, might as well wait and get 6000 series when they fixed it and make a lot better.

I'm pretty sure Nanite already does meshlet combination already.

Well DLSS was an upscaling tech that needed to work with the entire game. Those shaders are only needed for some specific shaders (effects) in some fixed parts of the world, so not entirely the same.

If the 5090 is indeed a 2 slot card and if it is at least 40% faster (without DLSS/FG) than the 4090, they are going to get my money again even though I told myself I wasn’t going to upgrade. 🤣

good find. and if that is in the official marketing slides shown at CES, I have my doubts that it will work well in fast paced games especially shooters, the games that actually need high fps in contrast to say Civilization series that can be playable at 30 fps.
With reflex 2 its probably not bad

Disappointed in raw specs on everything but the 5090, but what seems to be improved image quality with DLSS2 upscaling and FG is a win, because people will use those more and more (upscaling practically becoming the standard). Can't wait to watch DF put the image quality to the test. AMD might be perpetually behind on this if true.

Also, the slides and what they call DLSS now ('DLSS4' seems to mean just combing all the previous + multi frames?) are confusing and frustrating.

To me the current nvidia marketing is so annoying, being essentialy the good old Bernays style propaganda, in part based on Pavlov reflex - to keep repeating RT.. RT.., and now AI... AI...

It is, and Jensen is a total nerd, but you can’t argue with the results. Their FE cards specifically are the best GPUs out there. My 4090 is whisper quiet in all except the most demanding stuff.
