What's particularly interesting is no mention of DLSS or DXR. For the last 6 months we've been told upscaled reflective puddles @ 60FPS are the pinnacle of gaming.

Maybe nVidia marketing have been instructed to do a complete 180 because the cards are selling poorly.

It's that way with everything and always has been. Truform, Glide, PhysX, 3D, spanning monitors- all "the way of the future".

The top end cards probably aren't selling "bad" compared to Titan cards of generations gone by, just bad compared to past Ti cards. My guess is all the people who usually buy $1000 graphics cards did this time too, there just aren't very many of them.

Prediction: When Navi launches, if it's good, we will magically see a $699 2080Ti variant and everyone will buy video cards again.

I agree with playing better at higher framerates. What nVidia doesn't mention is the most competitive players using low/medium settings to both achieve higher frame rates as well as remove visual noise.

Even if Navi only competes with 2070/2060, that would push the price down on those cards. That then leaves a big gap in the lineup between midrange and high end, giving Nvidia an incentive to drop those prices.

It's possible that Navi, at least initially, will compete with Vega56 at a lower price point/power draw. That wouldn't make it a challenger to RTX 2060, much less 2070. It might bump down prices on the 1660Ti, but that's about it.

NVIDIA always launches a high mid range + Titan $1000 card first, then a $1000 performance level card for $699 a year later to mop up the rest of sales for that gen.

My guess is they will time this to squash Navi excitement. (and create halo product effect on a far larger scale than the $1000 cards do)

Same here. Last few product launches are an indication.

The dominant company determines the pricing. The smaller competitor only really aims for slightly to somewhat lower than that.

^ This. AMD has nothing in the works that will effect NVIDIA's stack all that much. Maybe the 1660TI, 2060 and 2070 get $50 drops. That's about it.
