G70 Spec?s

24 Piplines
Could be more but wont be less

Core Speed 550Mhz
Could also be more but maybe less and may also be changed depending on what ATI bring out and how fast the G70 at 550 compares.

Manufacturing Process 0.90nm ? this was just announced by the inquirer .. geee so I guess it must be true if they said so ? ^__^

512Mb?s of ram
Its still not 1Gb?? I don?t see them doing this for any other reason but to compete with ATI?s R520 and their choice to use 512Mb?s
This ram should be the fastest thing Samsung can provide in Quantity.
And that looks to be 700Mhz DDR ( 1400Mhz ) Same thing in the PS3 and X-Box360

The GPU also Looks to have the same features as in the PS3?? hmmm well I guess it is the same chip afterall.

I wonder if they plan on using a Video Processor again hmmm the last one worked great ? double hmmm ~_~ ?.. ( Sarcasm )

Well I guess that?s all I can think off right now feel free to add anything I missed ?Im interested to see what info others have found.

wrong

its not the same chip. the Nvidia RSX GPU is based off next generation technology. its only based off whats coming, and whos to say that next generation they meant is the G70 it could be something past that. RSX is more powerful than 2x6800U in SLI

This thread is titled Speculations

And in no way shape or form did i make any of these Speculations up please make sure your 100% on something befor you reply

Also please read this artical befor you reply again.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23325
It turns out that the G70, also known as the Geforce series 7, is going to be a very similar chip to the just announced Playstation 3 chip.
The G70 wont be as fast as the RSX simply because the RSX is designed to eat into the Cell processor to draw some of its pixel processing power .. the G70 wont have that nor will it have the other extra's ie: 10MB's onboard Cache all that offcourse again only Speculation.

heres some news

bit tech

Instead, the bleeding edge GeForce 7-series video card will be known as the GeForce 7800 GTX. There will also be GeForce 7800 GT and GeForce 7800 Std cards too, but it is unsure on their configuration yet.

The GeForce 7800 GTX will be clocked at a somewhat disappointing 430MHz core, while we understand that the memory will operate at 1200MHz, delivering 38.4GB/s of memory bandwidth. According to a document we have seen on HKEPC, the core will be able to process 24 pixels per clock, leading to a fill rate of some 10.3 billion pixels per second.

enjoy

videoclone, there isnt actually 700mhz/1400mhz ddr ram, just after N40 launched with 1.6ns ram, Samsung tested their 1.2ns ram thats 800mhz/1600mhz ddr, it may be underclocked like P.S3 is same as 6800Ultra was 550mhz/1100mhz on memory although ram was 600/1200mhz ddr.

You should see 512MB of 1.2ns 800mhz/1600mhzddr memory on the cards, but not sure what makers will set it to, but you could up to max anyhow.

Their saying 110nm and The Enquirer is now saying its 90nm like the P.S3, hmm, who cares we see when we get one

OTISmunkey i dont think u read the Anandtech review on the PS3 properly..the RSX tech is based on the G70 not the next generation after that!!

that is still just rumour and we all know it is now goin to be on 90nm process so clocking it as 430MHZ is plain stupid....we should expect atleast 600Mhz on it...

im sure it says there that its more likely to be 0.11 process and that the ps3 chip is the only 90nm part

Yesterday, we estimated that the RSX featured 24 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex shaders based around the number of shader operations that it is capable of. It seems that these are the same specs as NVIDIA's G70, although the part is manufactured on a 110nm node rather than the 90nm node that RSX was manufactured on.

Yes PC was 110nm and P.S was 90nm, but The Enquirer now says its 90nm for PC, but they contradict themselve next line.

I doubt a new GPU would be clocked at 430 or even 450 as this is 6800Ultra and UE speeds, it must be at least 475-500mhz id guess.

I still feel there is a ultra not spoke of yet not this GTX as top flagship.

damn the INQ, they suck sometimes the really do.

well i hope they dont have problems moving to the 90nm fab, i wanna see these beasts ASAP!

430Mhz is a bit conservative yes, but at least its not a step backwards...... if they've made sufficient improvements in the efficency of the shader pipelines then 430Mhz maybe enough

you know kinda like AMD and intel

intel clock higher, AMD still win

I always skip a gen on buying video cards so my next card will be the G70 series or the new R5xx sereis.

I don't seeing the RSX being faster than two 6800U without 32+ pipeline unless they really did alot improvements in design.

5900U->6800U is about 2x proformance increase and it need in features and double the pipes. In directX9 it was more like 4x the pipes as the 5900 series was 4x2 instead of 8x1.

But still i am sure there will be a worthwild upgrade to the G70, but i hope they do something this their DVI quailty and TV-Out quaility. ATI eats them alive in this department.

My $.02

2x 6800Ultra = 2x (16 pipes x 400mhz speed) = 12800 fillrate
G70 @ 550 core = 24 pipes x 550mhz = 13200 fillrate

There you go
Also G70 will have faster ram and probably be more efficient per clock cycle.

Now 6800Ultra is more than 2x faster compared to 5900 Ultra. In heavy modes, it is usually 3x faster or more => Start Review Here

indeed 136 operations per clock i think it was

I think we shoud prolly see 650mhz or more cause its 90nm and this gives it more headroom. Also they might have downclocked the chip a lot in PS3 to manage the heat.

Supposedly, its gonna be "launched" this fall or something. I don't know for sure, so if anyone else knows something different, feel free to correct me. I wonder how much these sumbiches are gonna cost? Anyone up for bets? Mine is roughly $600 MSRP for both G70 and R520.
