I had been planning to buy an RX 480, but after seeing the reviews I decided to go for a GTX 1070 instead. I just ordered a Palit 1070 Super Jetstream, which for some weird reason was the cheapest 1070 available at 470 euros, while FE's sell for 490-500, no idea why that's the case but I jumped on the offer.

Btw, anyone know what the difference is between Palit's Jetstream cards and their Gamerock cards ? All I could find is some vague mention that the Jetstream cards are supposed to be for OC'ing while the Gamerock cards are for gaming, but no idea what that means and no details on their website.

Gainward and Palit have best cooler for 1070 on market. Its 3slot cooler.
Temps under load are 68°C at 800RPM(auto) or 52°C at 1400RMP with manual fan speed.

And superjestream vs Gamerock-They are same.Only different color.

I'd be interested in your results when you get it. I know its 2x better than my current card but I'm curious anyway.

Maybe just run it on the games you have and let us know how it performs. I don't really care much for firestrike or those other benches.

Looks like a ~30-50% increase across the board...I don't know, maybe a little disappointing- But I wanted to put the 970 in the HTPC so, it is what it is I guess..

I wouldn't call that bad. I mean crysis has always been demanding for pretty much any card. Everything else at least to me looks very good.

If I had a 1440p monitor it's pretty much the card I would go with.

It's not really all that bad for a one-generation upgrade.

Now, my friend UPGRADED from at 2GB gtx760. He was substantially more impressed- Anywhere from a 300-500% increase. He's heading over to MC at 10am to pick up one of those 35" Predator Gsync monitors, the lucky bastard lol.

Yea now you have me looking at 1440p monitors. I better hold off buying one or else I'm going to need a better GPU than the 480 lol.

I would In no way trade a 980ti for a 1070- You'de be MUCH better off trying to get SLI if you have an upgrade itch to stratch...

I think I'm going to get a 1070. Do any of the options stand above the rest? I really like the idea of the Sea Hawk X by MSI, but I hate the premium ($520 right now on Newegg) just for cool temps.

I like the gigabyte model, not the $399 one but the $429 model. I think it may be the wind force option. Seems like it has very good oc potential and runs quiet too.

A lot of that stuff you see on the different versions of the cards is mainly for marketing. Some do come with oc already on them. You shouldn't have major issues if you want to overclock either.

I do find this odd but a lot of people seem to compare the 480 to the 1070. The 1070 is 100% more expensive but it's also 50% more powerful. They are in different brackets and shouldn't be compared to each other.
It's not 100%. Cheapest 8GB 480 is $240 and cheapest 1070 is $400. That's 65% more and OC vs OC the performance difference is 60%. Even if we take into account the slightly inflated price situation of the 1070 we can bump the number to 75%.

The reason why people are comparing the 8GB 480 and 1070 is because there is no card in between the 2 which makes sense to buy now. So if someone doesn't like the 480 they have to bump up to 1070 and if someone finds the 1070 too expensive they have to drop down to the 480.

I am upgrading to the 1070 from a 2GB 7850.

Picked up a MSI GamingX 1070. I consider myself brand agnostic, but my last several cards were all from Team Red. Been a while since I've had a Geforce card, last was a GTX 460 1GB. So yes, quite a while! I've been GPU-less for the last month+. Really looking forward to this card!

Yea pretty much what my situation would be if the aib 480 models are too expensive. But soon we'll have the 1060 to compare with.

Hey guys,
I got today the Inno3D GTX1070 card, however my FPS is way lower than it should be. While playing GTA V and CS:GO, my fps stutters at around 30-50 which is clearly not what it should be. At this point I think that my card may be defective but I'm not sure, GPU usage is very low for some reason.

What can I do?

Do you have it placed in the x16 pcie slot? Have you uninstalled completely all the drivers and got the latest ones?

There's another thread where a user is complaining of the same issue:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2478673

As shown in that thread, it does help to provide full details of your system, and potentially to provide a 3DMark Fire Strike score to help diagnose the system as a whole.

That being said, one of my 1070 cards initially exhibited this same problem, and I had to restart and set to native resolution (4K on the screen I was testing on) to get it to perform properly. Prior to that it was running at around 800MHz (a semi-load speed, which I assume is for low-intensity games). There may be something a little funky about the 1070 throttling under certain circumstances where it shouldn't.

torlen11cc, what does the rest of your system look like?

Caved in a bought the Zotac GTX 1070 Amp edition from B&H this AM for $449.99 shipped. Looking forward to seeing how it performs in my rig. The free expedited shipping and no sales tax triggered the impulse buyer in me. Don't really care if I get some crazy high overclock or not....Of course I'll at least try for something respectable.

I grabbed the MSI Gaming X off Newegg. I couldnt help myself. Waiting on the gaming edition from EVGA grew stale. I'd get an email but by the time get through the checkout it was already out of stock.
