What's funny is the prices on these are going up every day by $10 or so. Yesterday I checked the MSI model it was $439 and now its $449. I just want to verify I'm actually getting my new monitor before buying one of these cards. Damn best buy website is buggy as hell.

What determines the final boost speed on the 1070? Looks at reviews it seems most go into the 1900s. My FTW will boost to 1987 MHz despite being advertise for 1797 MHz.

Looks like i got an email alert for the $399 gigabyte model..at 3:30am. Too bad I didn't wake up to get one. Of course by the time I woke up for work and saw my email, it was out of stock.

I think next month first week I am going to just suck it up whatever the price. There is so much unprecedented demand for the cheaper models I doubt they are getting here anytime soon.

I have until August 1 as that's when the PayPal coupon to take $25 off expires. Reason im still waiting is I ordered a gsync monitor from best buy and I haven't gotten any updates on what's going on with the order. Just want to make sure I'll end up with that monitor for sure before getting the GPU.

Newegg has the $25 off $200 deal using Paypal, so I finally broke down and got the EVGA SC 1070. It's certainly going to be a giant upgrade from an AMD 7870.

Call Best Buy and ask them about what's going on with it. If they want your money they'd better do some legwork to make sure their customer is happy.

I called the 800 number and got a very nice lady that was trying her best to get me the latest information. According to their system they are saying its en route to my local store that I designated for pickup.

She told me if by Thursday I don't get an email that it's ready to pick up, call the store and see what happened to it.

I'll make sure to order a 1070 before August 1 though. What's this I heard about newegg not taking returns anymore? Someone in another thread said this.

In case I never get my monitor I may end up with a free sync monitor, in that case I suppose the 1070 would be fine yet just in case I needed to return it.

Dell $449.99 deal? There system is whacked. I ordered the Dell on the 20th when I got the early access email. Did in store pickup for 22nd. Got email saying it's delayed till 27th. Got another email saying ready for pickup on 21st. Picked up on 21st and have no complaints.

Yea that's the one. I managed to order it while it was going in and out of stock so that's why I was worried. Hopefully i can pick it up this week.

Looks like the Acer xf270hu is on sale for $399 new, cheaper than what I paid for the Dell monitor. But free sync would be pointless with a 1070.

Depends on the game. In a battlefield type game, yes. because that game hammers the CPU. But in a game that has low CPU usage, like Overwatch, you will be fine.

If you are overclocked at least to 3.5+ in certain games, you should be fine. Depends how many frames you want from your monitor to refresh.

I have a i7 Quad Core 860@2.80 Ghz and I'm seeing ~104 fps in Doom (openGL) at 1920x1200. Looking at some of the benchmarks for 1920x1080 and applying some squishy math, I think my CPU (or other system parts) are gimping the card by about 20% Still love it.

Really depends on the game. The 1070 will allow you to pile on GFX-specific effects like AA, higher resolutions, etc. that aren't too CPU dependent.

It's $399 right now the only catch is I'm getting a 1070 GPU. It's also IPS which is nice.

DAMN. That is a really reallllly good deal. Of all times to go on sale it's when I'm hunting for a new car... damn you priorities.

Either way the Dell you ordered is also a nice monitor, 10 bit TN panel's are not as bad as some people make them out to be. Also it's 1ms vs 4ms which matters if you're sensitive to such things.

Unfortunately there is no amd GPU right now for 1440p unless I get a fury and I missed the sale on that.

At the same time, say 2-3 years down the road amd comes with a very nice price/perf $500 GPU then I'll get that card and the gsync will be useless.

The same can be said for free sync. I don't like sticking to one brand I always buy based on the performance I want and what I'm willing to spend at the time.

Crazy good price on that Acer currently. Looks like a nice one to top it off. The fully adjustable stand is a must have whenever I shop monitors now. Might try and pimp one to my son as he's thinking about upgrading his monitor currently. He's currently using one of my R9 390's anyways.

From my limited experience with the GTX 1070 it looks like the hit going from 1080p to 1440p is rather large. I'm kind of one of those prefer the smoothness of higher fps kind of users. Looking at some reviews for the 30 minutes I contemplated the Dell purchase I figured G-Sync was a safety cushion for me.

I have no complaints with the Dell so far. Just needs a couple of tweaks out of the box and it looks very nice for a TN panel. Mainly just looks too bright and and washed out of the box. Pretty easy to make it visually pleasing in the end.

Nice to hear that you like it. I think I may need a bigger desk too to fit that on there. The base stand looks rather long.

Did you use the TFT central's profile? I've also seen some calibrations on Reddit.

The base isn't that large. It's 11.5" wide and just under 8" deep. My rig is on a mobile cart which is only about 3-4" wider than the monitor. Guess it's the reason I'll only buy a fully adjustable stand monitor these days.

Looks like it's for Rev00 and the one I got is Rev03. I just looked and I did load a profile but not sure if it's that one or another one I found. Shows as Dell S2716DG v2.icc when I check. Only thing I did on the monitor settings is drop down brightness to 35 and made a couple of changes with color setting in the Nvidia control panel. Took about a minute or so to tweak to my liking.
