They search the net for various prices and set theirs accordingly. Since they are a third party vendor, they are like a middle man and get their stock from various places.
They offer lower prices if you pay by debit and opt out of free returns since it saves them shipping. They don't deal with the manufacturer most likely.
I notice that some of their prices for these cards are more than newegg at times unless you use some coupons.
I didn't pull the trigger on the asus strix. They advertised it as the OC model with the boost clock of 1860 but later they changed the description and took that out.
While I was debating ordering, the price changed too. Not knowing where it's from also worries me although most of these should be newegg. Would hate to get a bad one and then manufacturer could deny it if it didn't have a newegg packing slip.
The fact that people are complaining about that is just silly. At the end of the day, all the cards will likely clock the same up to 2-2.1ghz. $380 for a custom 1070, backplate and OC is amazing, especially with no sales tax. You're not going to find a better deal than that, and to say its bad because it's not the OC edition is just ignorant. YOu can clock to the OC speeds yourself manually. IT's a difference of maybe 100mhz, and probably 2-3fps. Omg, such a deal breaker!
Either way, it still gives me leverage with jet.com customer service. win/win. And these doomsday scenarios you're painting a picture of is a little dramatic. IF you purchased with a major debit or credit card and you receive a card DOA, you're not going to be stuck with it. It's 2016 man.
