Overclocking this 1070 is confusing. The boost is set to 1861 yet for some reason MSI afterburner and ungine valley report it boosting to 2075. So which is the correct reading?
The 6700k is a little odd in that the gains from OC are so minimal one feels lazy about it. I haven't OC mine either as I actually have no idea how to do it lol so I am just too lazy in reading up on it and all that.I honestly haven't felt the need to oc my CPU but it is quite a bit better than my 2500k even if I don't feel it.
My Mobo has a lot of oc options in bios. I watched a YouTube video of one guy describing each feature and he tested most of the auto oc options which proved to run stable. So it seems it depends on your Mobo and I would say if you have read reviews of one trying them out then they could be a safe bet. Obviously just don't automatically crank it up to the highest mode, just choose something in-between.The 6700k is a little odd in that the gains from OC are so minimal one feels lazy about it. Off topic: Are motherboard auto OC software recommended these days?

If you’re looking for even more power for higher resolutions and framerates, select GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 graphics cards, systems and laptops are now bundled with a full game download of Gears of War 4. Additionally, as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, bundle buyers can also play Gears of War 4 on Xbox One for no additional charge.
Looks like it's only available to new bundle or PC/laptop purchases..bummer.Gears of War 4 free with GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070

This is making it hard not to buy one. I will buy the game anyways. And with 1070s already showing up for $400 or less that would effectively make it the price of a 970 when new. For me that kills every price argument against the card.Gears of War 4 free with GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070

So I managed 2.1Ghz stable at least so far it seems. Should be getting almost stock 1080 performance with these clocks.
Yes I am aware of that hence I said almost. 1080 is 20% faster reference vs reference. You're NEVER going to get stock 1080 performance with a OC'ed 1070, the spec gap this time around (in contrast to 970/980) is simply to huge bewteen the two, you can never compensate for the 1080's extra 640 shaders and higher memory memory bandwidth.

AIB 1070 is 5-7% faster than FE out of the box and most of them get around 10-13% further boost so FE 1080 performance isn't inconceivable.

Clock speed illusion? I am talking about the numbers...On paper, but that's just clock speed illusion, when the 1080 starts flexing those shader muscles and higher memory bandwitdh and clock boosts (as it normally does) then it's game over. nVIDIA were smart this time around, the 1080 is now justifying nVIDIA's MSRP vs the 1070, which wasn't really the case back in the days of Maxwell.

This is the latest updated chart with older less demanding games thrown out and more DX12 games in the mix.
And the most demanding title in the chart...
Still the same. I really don't see how this whole new notion of the 1070 being gimped has come into play with just a few odd benchmarks on a few sites.
That's nice man right out the box. I still have to finish over clocking my card. Looks like it's a good looking card too. Was debating getting one of those when they were on jet.com.So I managed 2.1Ghz stable at least so far it seems. Should be getting almost stock 1080 performance with these clocks.
